Hi. i am completing purchasing my gear and now i am in my computer/gauge SPG part.... i am a recreational diver , diving mostly in Florida and Caribbean areas probably not more than 50 dives a year .... i know there are the conservative algorithm systems as in the Cressi and Suunto (RGBM) and the more liberal algorithm systems .. i want to spend around $400 and would love your recommendation as well as the big question for me: what set up?
computer on hand and mechanical SPG connected to the BCD
or one console with computer?
Thank you

Check out a Shearwater Peregrine. I think it's a little above what you've budgeted - $450. I have both a Perdix AI and a Teric, and both are outstanding. I highly recommend Shearwater, and their customer service is stellar. GL in whatever you choose.

Thnak you. looking beautiful and high reviews. i will definitely check that . Thanks

Carry mine on my wrist. I used to have a three unit console, but I found the extra mass caused the O-rings on the swivel to fail.
make sense ... thank you so much

I'll second the Peregrine. I've used a 'basic' Suunto (Vyper Novo) and now have a Perdix AI, and much prefer the Shearwater by a large margin. The easy of operation is on a whole different level.

That said, the recommended Deep6 is also attractive as I dive their regs and can't speak highly enough of them as a company. Customer service that rivals what I've heard of from Shearwater, and also local to you in FL (one of the co-owners works out of FLL). Can't go far wrong with that option as well.

Thnak you . Suunto on hand or Console ? what do you think more practical?

I too dislike big consoles; I could see buying a console computer like ProPlus or Cobalt, but they'd be over your budget.
