Been watching an TV drama called Lyykeland "State of Happiness" set in Stavanger, Norway during the 1960's.

It follows the affects on Norwegian coastal communities during a decline in fishing and the subsequent oil industry boom in the North Sea.

Although mainly land based, a couple of the main characters are commercial divers and there are quite a few wet-bell sequences that are worth a watch.

I'd be interested in the views of oil rig divers of that era as to whether the equipment and procedures have been accurately depicted.

Either way, I'm enjoying it and there's enough 'love interest' to keep the wife happy.

I do like a decent Scandi-noire and the Norwegian ones in particular.

Ah, "Lykkeland".

Not too bad, in fact quite a decent TV series. A pretty good representation of the Wild west type of mentality they had in that part of the country at the start of the oil age. And also of the work done by Norwegian politicians to keep the money within the country instead of letting the oil companies take it all back home.

Do you know if they've made, or are planning to make, another series? We've only got access to season 1 and the Beeb has a bad habit off dropping stuff just as we're getting in to it. Too busy making crappy dancing and cake baking programs .

Sorry for my Norwegian misspelling.

It seems season 2 was green-lit last year with shooting this year. But if it's actually in production I don't know..

That's great, thank you. Covid has probably delayed production, but fingers crossed for next year.

Here, the production company claims that they were planning to start shooting in September and continue through April next year. Originally, they had planned to start shooting this spring, but was postponed.

And yes, they are shooting.

Were you living in France, you'd consider BBC is like TV from heaven... I should know, I'm watching more and more BBC programs over the years, many of them are fairly old I must admit.

I guess I'll give a shot at that TV drama.
