Good day all. Please, please, please keep this thread civil. No need to bring up the events leading up to this, but I'd really like some options on what we can do moving forward.

I bought an Excursion early on, I've got quite a few dives. I was hoping to be able to export dives onto a computer and put them into a dive log. I've searched all through my android phone but can't find the files anywhere. I don't think it's possible to export dives yet, but maybe someone more technical on here knows something I don't? I'm not crazy at all about the "dive story" app, although I know it's new, needs some work, and I'm a little to blame for being such an early adopter of a new computer.

My main goal would be to get the sawtooth profile and be able to see my SAC throughout my dives and gauge my progression, get a better understanding of gas management. Dive story currently does not do that (that I'm aware of). I understand that I would have to manually enter starting and ending pressures.

What are our options and what do you plan to do with your Excursion?

i reversed the apk and it looks like it creates a local sqlite db, divestory.db, to handle the dive log. you would need a rooted device in order to access the /data/data/com.crest.divestory/databases location for the db though. ddms or adb pull could then copy the db over to your computer through the usb connector. macdive may be able to partially decode the db file if you are able to grab them off, but i would have to check how cross compatible the db structures are.

It's been a few years since I've rooted a phone but thank you very much for sharing the info and the location. I sent you a DM when you get a chance.

I don't know if this has already been discussed/explored elsewhere, but it seems to me that the #1 option to pursue would be lobbying Deep6 Gear to add an Export option to the DiveStory app. I'm not positive, but I think there is already a dive log file format that is recognized by several dive log applications that DiveStory could export to.

Once there is already an app that downloads the data from the computer and stores it (as DiveStory does), it should not take very much work to add an Export capability to that app.

I agree. I don't know how much "work" is involved in that. I guess I could reach out to D6 on facebook and see what their plans are for the future...

Udcf/uddf. but plain old xml would work with most too.
Plain old would be CSV which is easy for them to implement (exporting to CSV is built into sqlite) and works with most logging applications and obviously all spreadsheet programs.

I have an older rooted phone somewhere at home. I should be able to pull the .db file and post for anyone to take a look at and hopefully go from there.

Now I just have to A.) find it, and B.) hope it holds a charge, lol

Of course there was just an update today for divestory so lets see what that has to offer 1st...

If that is built into sqlite, then maybe anyone who can get access to the DB file will be able to do some command-line/shell magic to export to something useful without any programming being needed.
