After a lot of thinking, comparing and reviews I decided to support my local dive shop and picked up a perdix. Good thing the bill is emailed so my wife dose not stumble upon it. :coffee: :thumb2: This thing looks sweet!!

The good thing is there is a lot of online information for the Perdix. IT's easy to update the firmware. If you are comfortable to you can learn about the three default settings in OC Rec mode. Or if you want to you can use default settings even in OC Tec mod and change other things such as your gradient factor, or times for safety stops. The best piece of my dive kit is my Perdix.

Functionally the two computers are pretty much equal. the main differences are form factor, reliability and convenience.

So...which one is more reliable?

Hi Mike1967,

I hope you don't mind me trying to answer the question that you posed to scrane.

I have had the pleasure of diving, dining, and talking with Mr. and Mrs. Shearwater. Mrs. Shearwater told me that Teric was a completely new design and product for them. There were some problems with the charging and battery systems. There were a few other bugs that had to be ironed out.

The important thing is that Shearwater stands behind their products. Period. They make every attempt possible to make sure you have a Shearwater for your upcoming trip if your Teric has an issue right before you leave on a trip. They are the paradigm for customer service. One week turn around. No, exceptions.

I believe the infant mortality issues with Teric have been ironed out. They are probably approaching the reliability metrics of Perdix.

cheers,
markm
