Nice.

Here is a reference from si-tech for gluing the PU rings for those who access this thread in the future:

I had that. It helped to read it. One thing that I didn't do that it suggested was pull back the suit and have the PU ring stick out a little. Then use seam tape to secure the end. The problem is there doesn't feel like enough "bite" in the suit to glue to, and it would make it very awkward. If I decide to do that, I'll dremel the edge more angled and use the seam tape.

Also wanted to add, my suit is 5mm thick neoprene, so it was more awkward gluing then I would imagine a trilam is, or maybe thinner neoprene would be. With the 5mm it acted like it wanted to "spit out" the ring if I had it stick out.

Hope that makes sense.

My wife has 5mm neoprene drysuit that we had custom ordered with the si-tech virgo system installed (QCS oval PU ring with virgo glove system, no rigid oval ring in this oem version)...the PU ring is glued flush to the end of the sleeve similar to how you did yours.

As long as you got a good bond between the neoprene, glue, and PU ring, you should be good to go from a waterproof scenario. I was in a local shop and saw they use some kind of black glue/adhesive when they do aftermarket installs it is definitely not aquaseal but seems really strong. I have used aquaseal to patch small holes in whitewater kayak neoprene spray skirts but have not used it to specifically bond anything together...hopefully your aquaseal glue job will last a good long while.

The black stuff is called neoprene seal cement. Made by mcnett.

It is very effective. Really good bond. But not so easy to work with. Especially if it is your first time doing a repair like this. The aquaseal is a lot more forgiving.

I think (hope) it will. I'm glad your local shop did it flush. I can always dremel the edge and put some seam tape, but I don't think it's necessary. The extra cosmetic ring that comes with the Ultima DGS will cover the end anyway.

The aquaseal was EXTREMELY strong. As soon as it touched it wanted to bond together. I actually got scared it wasn't going to work for a minute. I would have preffered more time to get it positioned right, maybe more MEK / less aquaseal would do the trick. This morning I pulled on the ring and neoprene a little. It feels like the neoprene suit would rip before the aquaseal would let go. What helped my situation was the suit is a tad smaller at the cuff than the PU ring, so it clamped itself while setting overnight.

Also wanted to add I rolled the heck out of everything on the floor, then went back over it again 5 minutes later just to make sure.

Use diluted baby shampoo. It is much cheaper.

It doesn't matter to me either way. I have a ton of the silicone grease at work. I use it on my o rings in my diving flashlights every so often. I just figured I would ask.

Baby shampoo sounds good too. Does that wear out pretty fast? How often are people popping of the seals, only when they need replacing right? Is it bad to pop in and out excessively?

I set it and forget it. But I'd safely say you could 20 or 30 times as long as you didn't tear them while seating the rings together. I do not lube any of my silicone rings. With the exception of summer time if I am sweating. Diluted baby shampoo is multi-purpose. You can also spray your mask with it to prevent fogging.
