The transmitter is rather neat in that it can either seal with an O-ring above the threads when it goes directly into a regulator port, or it can be sealed with a regular gauge spool when it is placed on the end of a hose. Nice there are options since there are so many different 1st stages and all the possible HP port configurations. While some have it lucky and can install the transmitter in a clean protected manor others may not have the option. When screwing directly into the regulator is not a good idea, the hose comes in. I would avoid if possible, the spool O-rings go out often enough I keep multiple spare spools ready to go. Don't even change the O-ring just change the spool right there on the boat. I have also seen a longerish HP hose used to put the transmitter over the shoulder. It was to solve a computer drop out issue.

And when was the last time you had a HP leak??

I had 2x HP hose failures last weekend while cave diving. One was the hose itself, the other was a ferrule.

If people have sound reasons why they have the HP hose on there, of which tank monkeys on boats are IMO about the ONLY valid reason for doing it, then fine. If that doesn't apply, then I don't think they should be used. I don't let diveops touch my gear, seen too many horror stories come back, and I also am rather particular and often diving "non-traditional" gear setups, so it's just easier to DIY.

I believe they're made by Pelagic Pressure Systems, which is owned by Aqua Lung.

Let me fix this for you:

I believe they're made by Pelagic Pressure Systems which was owned by Robert (Bob) Hollis (Founder of Oceanic, Hollis, and Pelagic Pressure Systems), which is now owned by Aqua Lung.

Hollis and Oceanic are now owned by Huish Outdoors.

Thanks for reminding me of the current ownership status.

I am going to order some spares. Good idea. The complete unit is cheap.

It always bothers me when people refer to others as "monkeys". It's probably just a cultural artifact, but it comes across to me as extremely racist.

certainly no racism implied, just an accepted industry term, for better or for worse. Hell, I refer to myself as a tank monkey when I'm slinging tanks

Hi all,

Just received a new (to me) Perdix AI and will be installing it on a short hose to my first stage. The question I have is what spool should I be using? My only other experience with AI was on my Suunto Vyper Novo which came with the spool/flow restrictor as part of the recall update.

Thanks in advance!

If your transmitter will accept a spool/HP hose fitting...some of the earlier ones did not...suggest using the spool with the center shoulder...locks the hose fitting/ferrule and transmitter together...keeping them both aligned...

Attached photo...spool on bottom...also suggest using Viton ''O'' rings...use oxygen compatible lube as well...

Well, I wouldn't have thought of it as racist except in certain situations/contexts, however I am also frequently bothered by the liberal usage of the term on this forum to deride and belittle others in a manner thought to be clever and acceptable.

Geez - it seems that some folks try to find racism in everything these days? I see nothing racist in the post here - monkey was used to imply rough handling of gear. While it's use in specific contexts could certainly be racist/have racist intent - that's clearly the not the case here. It's also possible he was talking about this guy getting a hold of his gear :

In fact, in technical circles the term "made by monkeys" is used to talk about bad designs. I read this site regularly and never once did I interpret the word as racist - because it's not!

But, I imagine that noone here would address these workers as monkeys to their face. I take exception to painting a group of people with such a derogatory term. Some may think of this as liberal bias. I think of it as respect for others. That's all from me on this.
