Here’s a good tip: Bring a reusable water bottle for use on the boat. Fill it on the boat. If you don’t, you’ll get issued with a tiny paper cup and you have to use that instead.

Thanks! I'll bring a collapsable bottle. Which doubles as a magarita transport vessel after the last dive!

Weird question: what is 'dress' for dinner at LCBR? I'm trying to keep my bags light, so the less unrequired clothes the better.

T-shirt, shorts, and sandals. It is extremely casual. You can dress up some if you want, but it is not required at all.

The really experienced folks bring their bottle to the dining room and fill it up with punch before getting on the boat for the afternoon dives. The punch tastes way better than the water. In the mornings, I typically put a Nuun tablet in the bottle just to give it a little flavor.

@DreadnoughtNH is 100% correct. I brought one bag which included clothing AND dive-gear. T-shirts, shorts and sandals. Nothing more.

anyone know how to check availability without emailing them/calling?

Don't think there is a way now. Their system used to have a preview calendar of what rooms were available, but since the new website design went live, it isn't there anymore. Don't hesitate to call them though. They are more than happy to walk through what they have available at any given time period. My usual booking pattern with them is to look for the Cayman Air flights from GC to LC in the time periods I might want to go, since those are usually the first thing to sell out. Then I check airfares from the US to GC to find the cheapest and best weeks to shoot for. Then I call Reef Fantaseas and see which of my preferred time periods have availability. Once you book though, don't go to sleep without booking your Cayman Airways flights, as those tend to disappear fast, particularly afternoon flights on Saturdays.

The REALLY REALLY experienced people store their water-bottles in the Igloo ice-chest on the boat in between dives

The really, really, really experienced bring swim suits, clean undies, medications, contact lenses, and C-cards, DAN cards, and dive computers with them on the Twin Otter flight - just in case their luggage is are delayed!

You must have watched us doing that on the boat sometime in the past few years... last August was the first time we had somebody else start doing the same mid-week after seeing us doing it.
