Greetings,

I'm thinking about going to Palawan in December/January. Any recommendations on where I should go? I'm bringing my girlfriend, who does not dive or even swim. But she'd be happy to sit on the beach and read a book.

Thanks,
Darrell

Think about heading to Coron, there are some nice resorts with beaches for your girlfriend, then you can go and explore the WW2 shipwrecks, Barracuda lake and maybe go to Catherdrale cave if you like that kind of thing. You can also look into seeing the Dugongs if you like. It's better to fly directly from Manila into Coron for this trip.

Thanks everyone. There are so many great places to go in the Philippines I'm always overwhelmed.

It sounds like El Nido is the place to go... this time. When I map El Nido it is a big area. I focused in on the Cathedral Cave, Palawan, Philippines and I'm seeing a lot of resorts south of the El Nido Airport on TayTay - El Nido National Highway. Is this the right area?

@pfirejack where did you stay when at El Nido?

Anyone have recommendations for resorts they stayed at?

I stayed at Rosannas Pension. Room # 4. Right on the beach. Dive boats left right from in front of my room. Dove with Palawan Divers which was just across the street from my room. Very handy for me in the morning. Good breakfast included with the room. Could be delivered right to your room if you wanted. Was very happy with the diving & the room. I took ferry from Coron to El Nido & return. Flew to Clark from Busuanga. Was a good trip hope to return to both locations someday.

I found that there was only a little bit of trekking and island hopping in Coron if you are a non diver. Beautiful if you ARE a diver however! I haven't been to El Nido though, so I can't comment.

Having a hard time finding accommodations. Seems most places are already booked for December 21 and 22. I can find stuff before this and find stuff after but all the 2 adult rooms are booked for the weekend before Christmas. :(
