US China Trade War: Impact on Scuba industry

A significant portion of diving equipment comes in from China. These include fins, masks, wet-suits, BCDs, boots and regulators. How is the scuba industry viewing US-China trade war? All thoughts and opinions welcome.

It remains to be seen but we’ll most likely see some price creep.

The smaller vendors may have to increase their prices while the bigger ones with deeper pockets may just absorb it hoping it won't last for long.

None of my equipment is made from Communist China except the wet suit and it never last for more than couple of seasons. My present suit is made in Cambodia.
Incidentally, I never met any Communist Chinese using equipment made from their own country.

I can name “Deep 6” but that is from FREE China(Republic of China).

Yes, I like how you call it. The Free China that is. It is really sad that HK will soon no longer be free. Very sad. Growing up there, everything I think about it, I almost tear

A lot of gear comes from China. Far more than the average consumer understands.

some dive lights (xtar/big blue) and neoprene goods (neosport and others) will get hit maybe. most of the rest shouldn't as final assembly is in taiwan.
