Depends on how many dives you're dealing with and how much information you entered into each one. If you haven't done much then I'd lean towards starting over. If you did a lot of work, then you can simply delete the dives that aren't yours.

It's really not that complicated- just make sure you have in fact created a unique user profile including user name, password, and email address (which is used to access online cloud storage) for each user, regardless of whether you share a computer or not. Use the shortcut template I provided to create a shortcut for each user so when subsurface opens it defaults to that particular user.

By the way the mobile version doesn't require that much work it uses the profile email and password to access the logbook stored in the cloud. Make sure that when you finish a session you save it to your local logbook AND to cloud storage so they both reflect the updated information.

I know this thread is from May 2018, but has there been any advancement in data fields exported?

If I recall, my issue is more related to what my computer exports, but here it goes anyways....

I make dive videos and have created a data overlay of the dive computer to show depth, rbt, pressure, etc, just exactly as it is displayed on the Galileo Luna. The "sample time", dive time, depth, and pressure export fine (mostly, sometimes the sample rates are different between fields). But I have yet to find a way to export RBT, NDL, and (in the case of Galileo Luna) the Nitrogen bar data. The nitrogen bar is no big deal, easy to add after the fact, but it's a pain in the butt to try and enter the RBT and NDL manually, using SmartTrak to "see" the dive computer in "real time" throughout the dive profile.

Are we limited on the by what the computer(Galileo Luna) is exporting?

I do use the Subsurface Deco Calc for some of the data, but I'm not seeing a way to export that data....

I am not 100% sure I understand what you are asking for. The dive computer (as far as I know) does not report decompression data when talking to the PC. Any PC software is supposed to make that up from the depth data. How the Galileo and the corresponding Scubapro software does this in detail is a secret known only to Scubapro.

Subsurface uses some generally used decompression algorithms (Bühlmann with gradient factors or VPM/B) to compute these values and display them on the screen. Are you asking for a way to export these values from Subsurface to some kind of text file? Currently, this is not implemented. But if there is demand for that, it could probably be done.

That is how I understand the issue as well. I believe it was once described to me as follows: The DC calculates NDL and RBT on the fly for the current dive, taking into account any previous Nitrogen load (ie, prior dive), and does not export this to the PC. Of course the software paired for the DC (in this case SmartTrak/LogTrak and Scubapro DCs) are using the same algorithm, which is sometimes proprietary to the mfg. I believe we are totally on the same page there.

I can't speak to other's wishes and desires, but certainly in my case, the ability to export such data from Subsurface would be amazing, even if only from the Deco Calc function. With the already adjustable algorithms available in Deco Calc, an algorithm could be chosen to match the "real" values shown on the DC close enough.

BTW, the Deco Calc function is totally rockstar, I think it was a great addition to an already great log software.

Give me a week (diving this weekend) and I will post a sampling of what I'm trying to accomplish.

What kind of file to you expect? I could probably do an xml-version with samples that contain all the data from the struct plot_data
Subsurface-divelog/subsurface
that Subsurface computes for its depth profiles. I guess in particular those entries under "calculated by us" are what you are looking for as well as ceilings[16] (the ceilings for the different tissues) and percentages[16] (the saturations which subsurface displays as the petrel type tissue loadings graph in the inbox as well as the heatmap.
Would this work for you (parsing the an xml file)?
 
Wow, awesome response! I'm actually overwhelmed by it, in a good way. And really, specific compartment(tissue) loadings are not relevant in my situation. Give me a few days and I'll show you an example of what I am attempting. I assume not a lot of folks are trying to do this, but maybe enough? Maybe an undertapped "We're more awesome" and marketing gain? :wink:

One of the great things about Subsurface is the multiple export formats. I don't think it should be limited to only one or two. But in my case specifically, a simple csv corresponding to the already present Sample rate (like every 4 seconds or whatever) would more than suffice.

It's just that of all logging software I've worked with, none of that type of data is exportable, tangible.... in any format.... As of now, I limp by, by literally manually transposing the data provided by Deco Calc and/or SmartTrak, depending on the field....but as you can imagine...super time consuming/tedious.
 
Over the weekend, I have written an exporter. It turns one dive into a several MB xml file.
 
No joke? Man, you rock! Not many dive log developers would make additions or changes on the fly like that.... It really shows dedicated the team behind Subsurface is to developing the best software available.

Are you still planning on doing this? What software do you use to merge your overlays with the video?
