Hello everyone,
I would like to ask how I can treat my jet fin Scubapro to keep them in good condition. Maybe silicone oil?
Thanks in advance

I've always used silicone grease that I use for my orings on my Jets. Perhaps once every 3 months, when I notice that the Jets are getting dull, I'll just use a little bit of silicone grease to buff them up.

The jets will then become lustrous and has that really "healthy" rubber look. I do it cause I've heard of Jets cracking, around where the straps are anchored, or the outer part of the foot pocket, hence the reason for polishing them once in a while.

Whatever you are using, would recommend to first test it out a small, unobvious part of the fin first, and perhaps leave it overnight to see if there are any bad reactions.

Just dive and rinse... My previous pair lasted about 26 years and then one split in half.... Damn Scuba Pro crap !! Maybe my new pair will last a bit longer....

Tire maker’s talc dusted on the fins after a good wash will keep them in good condition for prolonged storage, just keep them out of the sunlight and in a dry location sitting flat so that they are not under any bending stress. Stressed rubber is preferentially attacked by oxygen in the air, especially ozone created by sparking electrical equipment which causes rubber cracking. How do I know? Well I spent over a decade in the tire industry working with rubber.

I have a 35 year old set of Jets. I have just rinsed them and put away for the next dive. They are still crack free.

I too have a few pairs of "jet fins" -- both ScubaPro and Poseidon -- from the late 1970s; and the only weak link, among them, were the old rubber straps, which have since been replaced with springs.

Just wash 'em; keep them out of the sun; and give them to your great grandchildren . . .

Thanks guys!
I used silicone oil and put them hanging on the steel strap.
Next time I'll use talco too

The only things you can do to maintain your fins are:
- Wash them with fresh water
- Store them in a proper position with nothing heavy on top which can alter the shape of the rubber.
- Do not leave them under the sun as UV rays do not get along with rubber.

Honestly, I am not sure if hanging them by the straps (for long periods) is a good idea as the weight of the fin could alter the shape of the rubber.
