The only issue that I have had with the bungee is that that the knot slips slowly on mine. Just tighten it before dives and I haven't had any issues.

This what I do. See how the ends are tucked away? 2 pieces of tubing and 2 tightly pulled double knots after adjusting for 2 strap sizes to accommodate the thicker part of the forearm on one side. Nothing ever moved or slipped there and I pull pretty hard when getting it on or off.

I tied it differently. One end is knoted just like on your picture. Other end is just put through,long, with knot on the end and it slides freely. That way I can accommodate different thickness of wetsuit, drysuit or bare arm. Excess bungee is then just tucked under itself. Not my idea, someone posted it on SB.

@Divectionist, I think i have the same knots you have. I might just have to really crank on them to make sure the knots themselves are tight. Perhaps that is the problem.

Yeah I find cranking is the key with surgical tubing, gotta really pull the hell out of it and the knot gets really tight and will not move due to friction and pinching itself. If it's too lose, however, it can quickly pull out. I've fiddled quite a bit with these knots before getting it right and having the loops point the right way (outward instead of curling inward) and in the process have found that I could easily undo the tight knots but essentially had to resort to cutting the very tight knots because there was no way I could fiddle it apart.

Have you tried melting the knot a bit with a lighter?

I cranked the crap out of the knot. I will be in Oman soon and will let you know. If the knot keeps slipping i will try melting it a little. I am assuming it is like melting paracord?

Yes. It doesn’t take much. I like having two separate bungees so if one fails I have another. Hasn’t happened yet, but you never know...

I lost stuff that was attached to bolt snaps with braided line before, ever since I double zip tie everything attached to bolt snaps. Can never fail safe enough as long as it does not become a cumbersome mess of knots and backup straps.

For computers etc. where zip ties are not very useful, I prefer using surgical tubing over bungees because it feels much nicer and stretches better, but I heard that it does not live forever in salt water. How often do you swap it out? I am thinking every 50 ocean dives or so...

I have two bungees plus a binge loop that goes around my forearm. Three things would have to fail to have it fall off.
