Just received this email from Shearwater today.

We would like to thank you for your patience during this recall process on the yellow transmitters.

At this point we are not sure when we will be able to send out the yellow transmitter replacements. Since a US company manufactured the transmitters, the US government has to do a thorough investigation of the problem and resolve.

Shearwater is waiting on the US Government to okay the release of the new yellow transmitters. The government agency overseeing this process is closed due to the government shutdown. Until the government shutdown is over, we will not have any new information. When our government is up and running again, it may take some time for that agency to get caught up. We do not know where we stand as far as importance.

We are very sorry we cannot be more precise.

On Shearwater’s behalf, we apologize for this delay and inconvenience.

Just an FYI (I can't complain about this when there are thousands and thousands of workers furloughed or working without pay).

But on a side note, I still find it hard to believe that they went with technology that can't handle collisions from a mere 2 transmitters. Might have to give the Suunto EON Steel some serious consideration.

I'm using two grey ones for sidemount and never had a problem.

Wish I could say the same ... they would always cut out on me to the point where they were useless (I'm also diving sm).
Gee that's surprising, because they get turned on at different times I thought it would be a massive fluke for them to ever sync up.

Yeah, hard to speculate since we don't know how often they're transmitting anyway. If it was on the order of seconds, then sync would be less likely but if it's on the order of milliseconds, it'd be far more likely. Whatever the case, I don't remember a dive where they both worked for the entirety of the dive. *sad face*
