Hinge hole...

I'm guessing an IQ Lite pack?

I've got a NOS IQ Lite here with the grey finish on the buckle (annodizing?). Possibly a newer version given the picture posted up-thread. The metal at the hinge seems significantly wider around the hinge pin on mine. My buckle also has 3 broad teeth on the belt-side tip of the lever that mate up to corresponding voids in the back of the buckle - the webbing isn't held by a "pinch" per-se, but but by being pushed down into the 3 recessed voids by the teeth.

Since it is not in use yet, I can't report on durability. But it doesn't look too hard to tweak a bit and snug things further.

My guess is that when you started looping the second layer of webbing in there it put a huge amount of force on the hinge pins ...

I started with only a single thickness of webbing and the belt would slip apart. I doubled the thickness by looping it. At present, I'm folding it yet again for quadruple the thickness... a temporary stop gap til a new buckle can be installed.

Repaired! The stainless steel is noticeably heavier, but that's better than bending...

Thanks, all!
