Everyone stop whining. SP fixed the problem. If you have a first release, SP will send you new updated shoulder straps. I just replaced mine. (Why? Just because). I have just over 200 dives on the old ones with no issues mostly using steel 120s AND picking the BC up by the shoulder straps.

How do you know if you need replacements? Call a dealer with your serial number (found in the right rear trim pocket) and ask.

I have over 50 dives with mine, apart from giving it a good clean after each use I have not been particularly precious with it. It gets just as much heavy use as my old BCD I lift it up with tank, weights, by the straps, roll it up and stick it into a bag for travel, etc etc.

Been perfect no issues at all still looks brand new and overall I'm pleased, its a very nice, comfortable BC to dive in.

Not sure who the above post was aimed at, but arguing is what the internet is for, isn't it???

Sorry for digging up this old thread. I have done now about 36 dives in the Hydros that I bought last year. I am experiencing the very same problems that Chinny described. The BCD always forces me to lean strongly left or right when inflated. When I wiggle my shoulders a couple of times the air spreads with a really loud gurgle - only for the problem to return soon.
On my last trip there was another diver who also used the Hydros. Bascially he had the same stats as me (weights, wetsuit thickness, tank, etc. ) and he had no such issue. At all.
I have close to 500 dives and never had such issues with another BCD. Right now I think I will bring it back to the diveshop where I bought it and have it checked.

Did anyone have a similiar issue ? Opinions ? Thanks !

The hydros Pro is my first upgrade from a second hand BC i'd been using for over 5 years. Honestly, I've had the worst diving experience after spending $850 on this BC :(

Yes, it's light... Yes it dries quick ... Yes the neoprene is good but there are two huge problems I keep facing:

1) I'm having serious issues with the bladder/ air cell setup inflating abnormally. Every dive I've done with this BC (in the sea and in the pool), I've had a constant issue that I keep tilting either left or right. Essentially, the inflation is not occurring uniformly, or the air is not moving around the aircell in a balanced manner.

I essentially spend the whole dive wiggling trying to get air through to the other side so that I don't keep tilting one side.

I would love the other members on this forum to suggest what I could do to solve the above issue

2) The BCD keeps slipping upwards and now in hindsight I wish I had the cummerband; I'm going to try the crotch strap

Once again thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have

As it currently comes, the bungees run all the way from one side to the other, with nothing to hold them in the middle. So, the wing can get pulled to either side, where it will then provide an uneven amount of lift and make you want to lean to one side.

The simple solution is, when you notice this happening, reach back and grab the edges of the air cell, where the bungees attach, and pull it to whichever side you need to in order to get the bungees centered.

Also, you could probably rig something with the bungees to keep them centered, so that this doesn't keep happening. I have not done that to my Hydros as reaching back to pull it centered is just not that big a deal to me.

But a pain in the rear to have to do it at all :). Not a perfect design

I'm going to repeat myself. Too much air in the wing....

This is not directed at @stuartv
This is a response because the OP posted the same question in 2 different forums on SB.

I second too much air in the wing (which probably has to do with how much weight you have) and pulling the wings to correct it.

Most of the time just leaning to the side to make the air move works, other times I pull both edges of the wing to center it (just hand full of times).

In my opinion the wing doesn't "move" too often, it has more to do with trapped air on one side.

In any case, it is annoying when it happens.
