After 8 soaked drysuit dives, my girlfriend finally stopped the leak from neck seal by switching to SI tech silicone neck seal. (she previously used a waterproof silicon neck seal size small.) For those who has a neck of 12'' or smaller: don't buy waterproof size small neck seal because it is still kinda large. SI tech size small fits 8-11.8'' as oppose to waterproof size small fits 13'' or larger.

BTW, DRIS sold her this used SI tech silicone neck seal and saying they come in large order so there is no packing (it came in without any manufacturer package). It clearly has the mark around the ring system as shown in the 1st pic. I am still in the process of solving this issue. and will update once get answers from DRIS.

Im not trying to bash any dive store here. I'm just expressing my disappointment on such a reputable dive shop, and describing the situation. Also providing some tips for divers with small necks.

Hi, I'm here. I will message you. You're right, they don't come in any packaging. We buy them in bulk, and that is how they come. There are thousands of people on SB that can fully attest to that, and I can send you a picture if you want. We have over 200 of those instock right now, we have zero reason to sell you a used one or try to deceive you.

I will message you, and we can chat and get this all situated. I'm glad the new seal stopped her leak!

I reached out to Kasia and she confirmed this is an old seal and will send a new one to me. Will update once I get the new one. Hope this will never happen again in the future as we look up to the reputation of DRIS. We should have a peace of mind when buying from DRIS. Luckily the old seal held up, otherwise the dive trip would be blown up.

I doubt this will have any bearing at all on DRIS' reputation. @Dive Right In Scuba has always been the best at resolving any issues quickly and always in favor of the customer. No one on this board would ever think they intentionally sent you a "used" seal. More than likely it was put on a suit at the shop, possibly to demo the system, and was then removed and just tossed in the bulk box of seals. I can also assure you that DRIS did not demand the old/demo seal back and you now have two perfectly serviceable seals for the cost of one.

Kind of sad that one's only post is to say a shop is mean, without even having tried to contact said shop...

By the way, may I suggest common sense and having a spare seal?

That oughta seal the deal.

I would bet money that the DRIS rep you worked with just agreed with you that the seal was old/used and agreed to send you a new one because that is how they roll...it makes perfect send from a customer service standpoint and makes no sense to argue with you to convince you that the seal is new when you are already convinced that it is not...for them it would cost them more in time and energy on the phone dealing with the situation than just capitulating and sending you out a new seal. I recently purchased a spare set of Si Tech silicone neck and wrist seals from my LDS and the one they originally had in stock looked similar to the one you originally received...it was the only neck seal the had left in my size and I pointed out the area that looked like it was used...the shop owner said come back in a week as would be getting a new order in and when I did all the neck seals in the box appeared similar to the one that he had the week before (more or less)...When posting on SB about how long silicone seals last, the response was a relatively long time. I just took my new spare seals and dusted them with talcum poweder, sealed them in a zip-lock bag and now they live inside the tote that is my save-a-dive kit. If your wife has a si tech system on her dry suit then why is she not carrying a set of seals with her, especially when on dive trip? I can almost understand not doing so with glued in seals but with si tech seals if your trip is "blown" because of seal casualty then you have no one to blame but yourself...si tech makes it too easy to replace on the fly.

On another note...the cost the seals here in Europe seem to be about half the price in the US. I was able to get a set of si tech siflex silicone neck and wrist seals for just under 60 euros. The neck seal alone on DRIS is $60. Must be the import fees from Sweden to the US.

The one that she is replacing is the spare one because she sent her suit for leak test to LDS and they stretched the neck seal too much to the extent where new leaks came from neck seal. Thats why I ordered another one on DRIS.

I wouldn't mind paying 60$ for a silicone neck seal. That is a fair price for silicone neck seal in the US. However, getting a used one after paying extra for faster shipment kinda pissed me off. It is not our first time encountered situation like this. She bought a waterproof D6 from leisurepro.com at a discounted price due the only size left. When we got the suit, the neck seal is not even factory from waterproof. And the suit was from EU. ( i bought my waterproof ex2 here in the US, and all the labels on that D6 are indicating it was not supposed to sell in the US) Then who knows the story behind that D6. so we returned it.
