Hello - I’ve been diving almost 2 years now (almost all Cayman-based) but now we are settled back in London I’m wondering if there is a dive club here that I could join? Would be great to start learning how to dive in cold water (weekend trips to south coast/Cornwall etc?) and also just to meet up and discuss a shared passion.

I’m thinking about buying my first bits of dive gear too, and would like to do it locally if possible. I have no idea where to even start.

Thanks for any advice!
Kat

What part of London are you based in?

Hi Rivers - I’m in central London, SE11 (Kennington)
Thanks

Kit wise, I always bought from Aquanaut Scuba in Kingston when I lived in London. They are a 5 minute walk away from Norbiton station, about 20 minutes or so from Waterloo.

Thanks for the recommendations, I will definitely check them out!

Hi Kat,

You can use the BSAC Find a Club tool. When I enter London and restrict the search to 25 miles 23 clubs were displayed.

One of the members of my club here in Scotland is also a member of London Branch No 1.

Fantastic - thanks! I’ll have a search on there too. But on the location alone, Hellfins might be the one for me.

Am really interested in doing some further training - have to admit I had no idea about the BSAC courses, but they look really good. Presumably a decent club will advise on the logical next steps for a SSI OWD to advance knowledge / skills ?

Thanks again!

As a SSI OWD you can enroll on the BSAC Sports Diver course. Includes SMB, DSMB, mandatory deco stops, assistant dive manager, assisted & CBL rescues. Not forgetting Nitrox from the Ocean Diver course. Yes, Hellfins can advise - one of my fellow BSAC Directors is a member.
