Hi All,

I own the G2 and want to update the firmware every time I plug it into logtrak its reminding me to upgrade. Looking on Scubapro's website there is a firmware update 1.3.

I use a Mac and when I download the firmware upgrade it then advises me safari can't open the file because no application is available.

Can you help with some advice please. I presume I can upgrade using my mac but I seem to have hit a wall. Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi!

I have a regular computer, not a Mac.
This is how I did it.
I never used the Logtrak software.
I downloaded the new firmware to my computer and unzipped it.
Then I connected the G2 to my computer and pushed the disk-button.
The G2 opened as a disc on my computer.
I found the SWUpdate file on the G2.
I dragged the Firmware update 1.3 from my computer to the SWUfile.
I disconnected the G2 from my computer.
You will find the 1.3 firmware update in the "8.Other settings, 8.8.Software update".
Just choose it and your G2 is updated.

Dont know if this works on a Mac......

You just download the file and save it somewhere that you can see it like your desktop and unzip it. You then connect your G2 to your computer using the cable is my method and then select the Disk option. Open the G2 in the finder and drag that file that you unzipped into the folder that says SW.

Disconnect the G2 from you mac by using the Eject in finder and then push the button again to terminate being in Disk mode. Make sure you do this so you don't corrupt the disk on the G2.

Then go to software update menu on your G2 and select the 1.3 file. It will shutdown and do its thing. When it restarts its been updated.

Thanks for the information, I will give this a try later. Quick question are there any written instructions from Scubapro on the process, when you mention potential disk corruption that worries me, you would expect they have clearly written instructions on the upgrade process to ensure this doesn't happen?.

I never found anything written...its just drop the file into the SWUfile folder.

Goodluck!

Thanks mate, actually I have just downloaded the G2 user manual from the SP website and it has a section covering both the software upgrade and the use of the disk operation, so I will give it a try later and hopefully get this upgraded.

Appreciate your advice.
