Has anyone dived both Raja Ampat and Komodo? If so, how do they compare? I dived Komodo in May & don't know to go Raja Ampat in March or back to Komodo.

Your own assessment is the best. But you better check if there is vacant berth available on any LOB to R4 in Mar.

Raja Ampat is a lot more expensive than Komodo & takes 2 domestic flights from Bali to get there. Also have heard parts of Raja Ampat is dying & damaged from the cruise liner grounding. So I was hoping someone would have first hand experiences to share.

Was in Raja in Oct and did not see any dying or damaged reef. It’s very healthy. Did not see any bleaching.

I loved both. They’re different. I dived Komodo in Sept and Raja in Oct. Raja has more beautiful soft corals, fans and color in that sense while Komodo had more life (fish) on any given dive site due to currents. It’s worth going to Raja and everyone is different in their assessment.

I found them quite similar. It very much depends on which sites you dive. Have been to Raja 4 times and Komodo once - all Liveaboards. Each trip was different with a different mix of currents, macro, fish and coral. Plan to go back to Komodo again. Saw no coral bleaching and RA is so large that one cruise ship going aground could not possibly effect anything but the local sites.
