Another excellent diving destination in Indonesia in September is Banda Sea.

I’ll be there with 7 other buddies on that same boat on 14-22 September 2025. Have dove in Banda Sea 3 times with 3 different liveaboards and Blue Manta is the best one. That’s why I am coming back to Banda Sea with Blue Manta.

I suppose local Lion Air flights don’t show up on your regular booking sites?
It does on AirAsia.com booking platform (or batik.com.my which is also Part of the LionAir/WingsAir/BatikAir group) however you cannot book the luggage ('you'll be entitled to only 15kgs). It won't work with Nusatrip.

Therefore as I said before you'll have to go through a 2 steps process :
- first book the flights without extra luggage with AirAsia or Batik.com.my. You then get a PNR number valid for LionAIr/Wings air.
- then add luggage through Lionair website inputting your PNR number.

You can add luggage now on the NusaTrip web site when purchasing tickets for this flight. This was not always the case and you had to buy the ticket and then as Luko says go to the Lion Air site to add luggage. The BookCabin app also allows you to add luggage to this flight directly.

Cheers. Where’s the port of departure? I’m looking at the weeks before, say. Sep 7-19ish in country. Give or take a day or two. Looks interesting. Fun with schooling hammers in good viz.

Can you also book your seat now on NusaTrip?

Wings, which is part of the Lion Air group. I just looked and it seems the only way to get Jakarta to Alor on a single ticket is to fly the 2:00AM Batik flight (Batik is also part of the Lion Air group). I did it one year across multiple days, but that was Lion Air rescheduling me not me booking the flights myself.
Batik 02:00 it is. So will land in Jakarta 15:00 … 11 hours. Might be worth to get a room at some airport hotel and try to get in a few hours sleep.

So went ahead and booked ... added weight on every flight so we have 2x30 kgs. Ouch! It was expensive. The domestic Indo flights costs me more than the Qatar flight from Stockholm to Jakarta. Will spend 10 days @ Alor Divers, so 9 diving days with 30ish dives (two boat+one or two house reef dives daily). Then onto Bali for two days. Haven't booked anything there yet and the original plan was to find a nice place not too far from the airport and do nothing. But then I realize that Nusa Penida is within dayboat reach. Could use one day, be picked up at hotel and go do two or three dives there! Recommendations on good and camera friendly dive ops gladly received.
