I'm looking to buy a sidemount harness and would appreciate some feedback on some available options.

I live in Australia, I have 12l steel tanks, diving wet in 7mm wetsuit in summer.

Some available harnesses are as follows (prices in AUD)
Seacsub kso-1 $350
Scubapro xtek sidemount $517
Hollis katana $850

Some feedback on these harnesses would be appreciated and/or possibly something else I should be considering. I've read a little about the kso-1 being a little flimsy, katana seems ok, what about the scubapro xtek?

I believe lift may be an issue using the 12l steel tanks?

Thankyou in advance!

I'd forget about scubapro.... Haven't seen the Seac, but it doesn't look too promising.
Katana... meh.

There's also the Stealth available from DeepDiveGear, which can handle those 12l tanks easy... (Been there, done that, I just didn't like doing it in a wetsuit due to the large amount of air required to compensate for the suit, which is nor sidemount nor tank related)

I can get the Stealth 2.0 classic for $565 and the stealth 2.0 Tec for $612.

Apart from an extra 3kg lift (16kg v 19kg) in the Tec is there any major difference?

The tech wing is permanently attached to the wing, but to me that's a great advantage.

if you dive steel tanks a lot, you will get a benefit from a buttplate with rails, which the katana doesn't have.

the hollis sms75 and the dive rite nomad would fit the bill as long as you don't mind modding them a bit.

stealth is more popular with europeans it seems.

if you're gonna dive wet, i would consider a redundant bladder maybe or be prepared to use a lift bag.

Thanks for the replies, I'd prefer to buy something I can use without mods at this stage, at least until I gain further experience with SM.

I plan to carry some redundant lift in the form of either a lift bag or smb, ultimately I'd like a dry suit when money permits.

Are you looking only at things you can get in Australia?

Australian 12l tanks are usually circa 12kg, so not really no.
