Now completed about one year, the new Marina slips in the lee of the ferry pier remain completely empty. As best I know the concept was to have a place to invite Yachts to stay over and enjoy/spend money in Cozumel. Never have we seen one there in all this time…but that is no surprise.

The slips are about 30 ft deep and there is very little room to maneuver between slips. In other words the slips are designed completely wrong for the purpose put forth/intended. Someone in Government should be held accountable but probably won't be for this completely stupid project.

At this point the only possible use would be for the little glass bottom boats, and snorkel boats to pick up guests there but I suspect even that will never happen. The ghost slips will remain as a testament of government stupidity.

I was wondering about those I just figured they were for the tour boats you see zipping around all day.

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

A number of posts have been deleted. I won't even bother moving them to the Pub; anyone who wants to discuss corruption in Mexico vs the US is free to start a thread in the Pub all by themself.

Now stay on topic, and keep the political discussions where they belong (which isn't in this forum)

Mod: Please provide a list of approved topics that we can discuss.

It is clear that it is ok to talk about dive ops, lodging, restaurants and rental cars.

If you can provide a list of approved discussion topics that would be helpful.

If you can't provide a list of approved topics, then maybe you could provide a list of banned topics.

There is a rise in street crime in Coz according to the press releases, can we talk about that or would that present a negative image of the Island?

The new mayor has made some controversial decisions, can we talk about local politics that relate to Coz, or is all political talk banned?

I am not trying to stir up trouble, but would like clear direction for future discussions. Thank you.

It's pretty simple. From the ToS:
your posts or threads must be relevant to the forum or thread in which you are posting.

If you want to stray off topic, you're free to post in Non-Diving Related Stuff for
Discussions about things other than Scuba
with its sub-forums The Pub
where you can pretty much discuss topics that effect you, but aren't related to Scuba
Surface Interval
where divers are free to chat about anything within the ToS and feel free to let the conversation drift from topic to topic
and Storm Watch for
discussing the Tsunami of December 2004 and the after effects

I am still not sure if we can discuss certain topics.

Can a thread be started to discuss the new local government, or is that not relevant to tourists?

Can a thread be started to discuss the general crime on the island or can we only discuss issues related to crime against tourists?

Is it ok for me to talk about the time a Police officer was removing the plate from my rental car but moved on when I handed him a few hundred pesos?

There are lots of members here that have interests and insights about the entire Island, including those who live there and those who are thinking about moving there or starting a business there. Their input on certain topics is very valuable even if it is negative.

Would it be possible to create a Pub Coz opt-in subsection of this forum to discuss Coz specific pub type issues for those who have a Coz-centric interest? I think that might help eliminate the need for removing posts so often.

Thank you for your hard work here on SB, David

With all due respect - unless you actually live here or have a business here, it really is not your place or concern to discuss local politics or government nor do you really have an understanding of it - nor should you be expected to. Come enjoy your vacation.

I could comment on every point -
