Making a mountain out of a bunch of dunes. I think that ALL beaches should be 100% public anyway.

Is nj the only state where beach access is limited/pay for play? Hawaii and florida beaches all are public access, even where a resort is built right on the beach. So goes Deal, so goes the rest of the towns.

But if it is illegal to park in Deal - and there are no bike racks on the sidewalk - how pray tell is anyone but a Deal resident going to use the beaches?
Seems like it is segregation with a slight variance - because you know if you can't afford Deal homes - you don't deserve to be on our beaches...
That I think is the essence of this thread.... :-)

Dive spots in the area are already limited and then to have access gettimg more and more difficult if not prohibitive is not good for local diving.

As long as they don't put parking meters at maclearie we're good. Think about it. Gotta get out of the water to go feed the meter because the meters only take up to an hour at a time.

Think about it, is diving what they are really concerned about?

What amount do divers bring to the local economy? IDK.

Deal isn't concerned with divers. But other towns where divers frequent may follow their lead and then we have issues to deal with. As a beach goer, access should be open and free.

but should it be?

Do you have county or state parks you have to pay to have access to? We do. That makes sense it takes money to operate and run the facility.

Same with beaches, I don't agree with alot of the places down here that charge outrageous meter prices, but it is their choice. There are costs associated with running the beach also, lifegaurds, cleanup etc.

They've been doing it for yeeeaaars. Doesn't make it right but time to get over it already. That's the nature of Deal. Only way to do anything is to get the state to change the laws. Good luck with that.

Ok this may be more appropriate for the Pub. But... Don't people give a hoot - have a conscience and do something - vote for crying out loud... This is why we are in the mess we are currently in... When, What is finally going to cause the camel's back to break?

Ok done with my rant - for now... :-) Thanks for reading...
