sorry $100 USD.
I was looking at the DGE plate or the OMS one.

I'm also trying to do a combine purchase with fins so that I get / negociate free shipping.
I'm keeping my options open though!

do you have an extra harness to put on it? because those aren't cheap.....

The are at least 2 generations / designs of Hog wings. I bought mine 18mo ago and it has 3 pairs of bolt grommets and the cam band slots are very long. This wing has a good chance of working with just about any plate, there is a lot of adjustment up and down. I have a OMS SS plate and it works super with this wing.

I've seen an older Hog 32 with 1 pair of holes and real short cam band slots. That wing would have to match up to the BP slots exactly to work without a STA. I wouldn't assume any plate would fit without having both wing and plate in my hands. Jim Lapenta would probably know as much as anyone.

Google "Hog 32 wing" and look at Images, you'll see what I mean.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I'll have to check which one I have.

Since so many brands of plates are mention, I will throw in another curve ball. Do you mind the band angle of the plate? From the flattest to the steepest band: DSS, DiveRite/DGX, OMS, HOG. The difference between DiveRite and HOG are very significant. If you like the flatness of DiveRite, you may not like HOG.

Thanx!
I bough a OMS plate yesterday. we'll let you guys know what I think once I get it!

Should add that for single tanks, weight pockets on the cam bands work just as well as the plates, are easier to adjust to add just what you need, and are far less expensive. The pockets I sell are 10 bucks each.

Also, the DSS bolt-on weight plates are specifically NOT recommended for use with doubles (just for the record). I have them. They are really nice. But, I got them and my DSS BP and wing used, for super cheap. I would not pay full price for any of it. And I definitely wouldn't pay full price for the bolt-on weights when they can only be used with single tanks.

My DSS BP works just fine with my Hog 23# wing - which does have the longer cam band slots.

Good luck with your new BP. I expect it will work just fine.

Most divers using doubles don't need *another* 8 lbs on their backplate, exactly as you discovered. If they do need additional ballast higher on their body it's simple to add soft weights between the wing and the plate. If they own the soft weights the net cost is *zero* dollars.......

We try to make it abundantly clear that the DSS weight plates are for singles only, exactly as we state on our website. DeepSeaSupply - Product Detail
