When I lived in Norfolk/VaBeach area several of the dive shops had their own pools.

Looking at dive shops in Northern Virginia (and the two that I've been to) it didn't seem like they had pools. Do any of the NoVA or MD shops have pools that they would rent time for gear check out / dive toy testing?

TIA for any info.

No pools. They all use rented facilities.

I have gotten in the pool at the Freedom Center (in Manassas) with both Virginia Scuba and Coral Edge Adventures. One of the other has that pool at least 2 weekends per month and they have it every weekend of the month sometimes (depending on how FC schedules swim teams).

I have also gotten in the pool at Gallaudet University (in DC) with Blue Planet Scuba. I think they are in there just about every weekend.

You have to work around whatever class they're running and sometimes they might have such a full class that they might not have room for you, but if you're flexible and willing to show up and work around them, I've had no real trouble getting in to work on my own stuff.

All are great folks.

I don't know of any shops that have pool time around here other than on weekend mornings.

DIVEWELL has their own pool in Woodbridge. Give Jeff Charleston a call and he will set up an appointment.

I'm looking for a place to test out some new equipment/confirm weighting for singles (mostly been diving doubles lately). Did you find a place in the area, yet?

Here you go. They have a pool on site.Divewell 2015

Thanks for the link. I found the site last night, but didn't see anything about the pool. Do you have experience with them? Do you know if they'll let me just rent a tank and pool time or will I have to take a 'course'?

Yes they have a pool on site and if you give them a call and explain what you are trying to do, they will arrange a tank and pool time. Really nice folks to dive with.

It looks in the pix like an outdoor pool. Brrrr.
