Hi -

Just wanted to let you guys know that my dives went great this weekend - I can't wait to get back onto the Poling - hopefully, late September, October at the latest. Vis was not too terrible, maybe 20 ft or so, and current was a nonissue on top of the wreck, though I could feel it pulling me on the line during my ascent. This was my first boat dive (hell, my first dive over 30 ft) in my drysuit, and while I am still getting used to it, I felt pretty comfortable for most of the time.

The USSNH was basically a pile of rubble, though it was an attractive pile of rubble, I guess. May not opt to go there again...

Soggy, did your charter get cancelled?

Thanks again for your advice - it was really invaluable!

Soggy:
Yup. :( We ended up at Old Garden Beach and did a 101 minute dive out to 50 ft deep, though. Saw some anenomies, pollack, sea ravens, lobster, and starfish....woohoo

Oh, yeah, you must have been THRILLED looking at starfish and lobster. Sucks about your charter. Will it be rescheduled?

Soggy:
Someday. We're going to try a different boat next time.

Soggy, just admit it... This has nothing to do with the boat... It's just that a$$ is cursed when it comes to the u-boat. :D Next time you and I are chartered for the u-boat I'll be sure to double-book for another charter, at least that way the EANx isn't wasted on lobsters again... Speaking of, you forgot to mention the lobzilla I caught on the dive!! She was huge & took 10-15mins to catch!! Only to end up gravid and about a 1/4inch over the max limit... ARGH!!! Wish I had a photo...

I was organizing Soggy's charter and got caught up in his bad luck. He's right, I'm booking a different boat next time. That boat, in fact, was on the u-boat on Saturday. It was rough, but diveable.

I did end up out with another charter on Sunday. Ended up doing a 47 minute dive on the Idene, which is a completely intact fishing trawler in about 90 fsw off Block Island. Dropped into the hold and went into the wheel house. Found a hatch that looks like it leads to the engine room and who knows what else. Total run time of 67 minutes, which was just about enough to make up for Saturday. I missed the second dive because I was flying to San Diego on Monday morning and didn't feel like pushing my luck.

Sog, never fear, I spoke with the new boat captain. He'll take us later this month or in early October.

You'll keep a spot open for me, right? I have a mission on that wreck!!!
