@ Moderators: This is such a unique and very difficult situation for those of us who have been around ScubaBoard for any length of time, and many of us are having and will continue to have trouble strictly adhering to the normal Accidents and Incidents rules due to our great respect and affection for TSandM.

I appreciate the gentle approach that is being taken, and beg you all to continue being gentle with us for awhile as this sinks in.

Thank you and as always,

Best wishes.

:( Does anyone know where the current would have let go? (How far from descent point?) Any land/islands in the area?

Because of how we all feel about Lynne and Peter, this thread will likely progress somewhat differently than many A&I threads do.

Any discussion will proceed with great sensitivity to them both, including great awareness of the fact that Peter will see every word.

Negative speculation will likely be absent.

We will patiently wait for clearer information so that we can have a more useful discussion.

We will be kind and compassionate.

At least, this is how this thread should go.

I'm pretty sure Lynne would be the first to say that is how ALL of these threads should go. She was many fine things, high on the list being that she always advocated for civil and accurate discourse. I'm asking in her name that we pay attention to how we do it on this thread, and make a greater effort to develop all future A&I threads with the same personal attention and care.

Of course the good Doctor-our fellow diver Lynne, would encourage civil discourse and learning. It was her way.

Many of us have learned from TS&M. We will continue to do so.

Chilly, the site is in open ocean and it's known for strong currents. Prevailing currents are north to south and there's pretty much nothing between where they were diving and Hawaii. If something happened to her under water they'll have a very hard time finding the body. I hope that she surfaced and they don't stop looking. The water is cool. It's a race against time.

If something can happen to a diver as safety conscious as her, it can happen to anyone.

... yes, it can ... and if there is ever any one lesson that Lynne would want people to take away from this, that would be it ...

Lynne is the most safety-conscious diver I've ever met ... but the ocean is bigger and more powerful than any of us ...

shocked, bewildered, and feeling empty....

persecute me as you will, but I am going to ask something... this is the A&I forum...

was this a true solo dive or a same ocean team? The team concept was always stressed by Lynn....

probably hundreds of dives by her in this area, so it was "just another day and another dive"...

we all get to a point where we let it slip a little... let us pause and give that some re-focus...

Thoughts and prayers to all in the close and distant circle..
