Mine seems to get spontaneously scratched. At about $15.00 a pop, this seems rather expensive. Is there a way to polish it out?

Are there any alternatives that are not quite so soft ?

go to the autoparts store and get some superfine sanding pads 1500, 3000 grit and headlight polish. Sand until the deep scratches are gone then buff the sanding marks out with the plastic polishing compound - Just like new and you'll have lots of leftovers for the next time. Keep the console in a pouch when not diving (I use a beer coozy - you'll need one for the after dive anyways) and more importantly keep it properly tethered and tucked up on the bottom - not dragging and banging around (not that you'd do that but things happen)

Thanks to you and coldwaterlloyd. I think I have some headlight polishing "stuff" kicking around, I'll try that first

For the record, I'm not guilty of banging it, I use a DSS bungee mount and its always on my right wrist
