Hmmm... that does sound a bit rushed. Though we rent gear, so we can just bring our bag with a wetsuit to breakfast with us, but obviously a walk to the pier wouldn't be as long as a cab to the marina...

Some mornings though we had late departures because of cruisers though, so maybe I can just ask Alison what the latest I can get to the marina is. If it's 7:30...then I think Casa del Mar might be winning again.
Check with Alison ..... #1 - I'm not sure she's picking up north of the marina anymore; and #2 - if she knows you have a time crunch, she might able to push back the time to be a the marina a bit .... it never hurts to ask!!!! Too bad you're not going in November, would love to be on the boat with you!!!

You know, I emailed her about rates (they went up...but I think with the new taxes pretty much everyone had to- she's still less expensive than most of the companies I look at, except one who is so much lower it makes me nervous. We thought about doing 2 days with Alison, 3 with someone else to save money; but since we need rental gear the savings aren't very high...) but totally forgot to ask her about what hotels she is picking up at now. It's probably moot as I think we are decided on Bahia now.

We looked at November, but flights late November are SO expensive, and I can't do early November since I have 2 sets of vacation time off work in October. I would have preferred November, just because the Norte risk in December starts getting higher. Hopefully we will go the first week of December, but it will depend on flights.

Kat is right. (Man it pains me to say that....)

No pickups north of Caleta anymore. Apparently I did not get the memo.

You might try Tres Pelicanos. Jeanie gets good rates at Bahia and their office is I/2 block from the hotel they transport you to and from the caleta each day. Their rental gear is new. 5 hotel nites, 3 dive days $280+tax

I am so hesitant to dive with another shop... have you dove with them before? Do you mind if I PM you some questions?

I had only looked at their general prices, which saved us less than $10 a day- but their package prices really save a bit more. It's over a hundred bucks for the week. For a budget vacation, it's a tough choice.

I think you will be quite satified with the Bahia. Now I will say that I have never stayed there, but have a few friends who have and my wife and I checked out the place, toured a few rooms, ocean front, side with balcony, and the back side. It is clean, the rooms are decent. Heck even my wife thought it was nice and she is quite picky.
As was stated above Tres Pelicanos offers package pricing. They also offer transportation to and from the caleta without charge.

I agree with Blue Steal. I have stayed at the Suites and CM. Beds at
CM are a little softer. If you stay at The Suites, get as high as you can
and back side as music at Thirsty Cougar may keep you awake if you
are a light sleeper. As for
the 3 P's, don't think you can beat their service or comfortable, fast boat.
Check out Trip Advisor.

So we are looking at splitting the time between two ops, to give a new one a try, and maybe save a few dollars.

I emailed TP for diving + hotel quotes for 7 days at Suites Bahia and either 3 or 4 days diving. Kinda weird because the per day diving rate is more expensive to dive with them 4 days than 3 days. Usually discounts work the other way! So because of that, I think we'll split our days with the op 2-3, rather than 1-4. Decent package deal though.

(It looks like we'll get more savings booking flight + hotel together than hotel + diving together though. So many decisions.)
