Thanks Ron- I'll look at that too. Looks like the deal might be this week only, but maybe there will be one when we are ready to book.
Orbitz has a good coupon code for $150 off flight + hotel; and then of course TP package pricing, so it is a lot of comparison shopping.

Gonna wait until next month, when hopefully I get doctor clearance to do things again (it's like 99.9% likely, but it sure would suck to book and not be able to wear a scuba tank, and thus not dive), so I'll know what flight prices actually are. But I think it's Bahia for sure, with either Scuba with Alison or a split of Alison and Tres Pelicanos.

The fun news is that we rebooked our Galapagos tickets since they changed our flights so much and the new tickets saved us $400, so we have more money for this trip now :)

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

A large number (50+) off topic posts that degenerated into name calling, chest thumping, personal attacks, and unfriendly comments have been deleted or edited. When responding to any thread, please ask yourself if you are answering the OP's questions. That will help keep things on track. Marg, SB Senior Moderator
As I recall, the OP was expressing concern over her rapid ascent from the safety stop and it led to a very healthy debate on the proper technique to ascend from the safety stop: finning versus breath control. So yes, asking myself, I was answering the OP's question.

Since when is it a personal attack to suggest that an inexperienced diver get more practice honing technique? It was only "personal" because it was only one person insisting his way was the only way. Perhaps it would have been best to split off those posts yet again, or put them in a more appropriate forum instead of deleting them entirely? There was a lot of useful information that will unfortunately now be lost forever to those divers that could have been helped, information so important that it may have saved them from DCS and embolism, saved their lives.

BTW, you missed personal attack #63, where I'm being shamelessly accused of inflating my chest to pick up women, as if that were my only "technique". I cried so hard over that, even contemplated suicide, but then realized I'd never be able to pick up women if I were dead so I changed my mind. In any case, it's out of context now. Makes me look like a womanizer and I'd hate for my impeccable reputation here to be tarnished so.

The Cheaptickets site has a 20% off promo code almost all the time lately.

Kat is right. (Man it pains me to say that....)

No pickups north of Caleta anymore. Apparently I did not get the memo.
What was that????? I can't HEAR you!!!!!!! :rofl3:

I am so hesitant to dive with another shop...

Yup, Alison does kind of spoil you for diving with other ops ..... we used to do what your doing - split it up between ops to save some $$, but it ended up that I was so comfortable with Alison, that saving a few dollars wasn't worth it anymore.

We looked at November, but flights late November are SO expensive, and I can't do early November since I have 2 sets of vacation time off work in October. I would have preferred November, just because the Norte risk in December starts getting higher. Hopefully we will go the first week of December, but it will depend on flights.

Funny, we found traveling mid-November (and flying home on Thanksgiving) was cheaper than early December. Of course, that could have changed by now. We have to work around the DH's work schedule so it always ends up we travel on Spring Break, or near the end of a school semester.
