I still can't get into Groups???

Will Tek2Tek be removed as well?

No...

As stated, only the "social groups" which were used extremely infrequently will be removed period... end of story. This unfortunately is not up for discussion.

For the ten people on SB who occasionally used the "social groups"... we're sorry for this inconvenience to you. In all reality, you can carry on your private conversations in PM. For the other 200,000 members who didn't even know this feature existed, this is not a problem.

There is really nothing else to say about it, and I don't expect anyone from SB to comment further.

I will remove this feature in 5 days. Thanks.

BRT go to the Community tab, in the drop down menu is Groups. For now you should be able to get in that way. I can see the Pub just fine, just as it always was though minus a few threads.

Not SB's doing; ok, it was our doing, but had to be done because exclusive and private forums are verboten here in the land of inclusion; OK, OK, what I just was was steaming bull:censored:...they're just not important so forget it!

Will Tek2Tek be removed as well? It was essentially the same as DMD with different entry requirements, and says right up front that it does not comply with what you just said was the reason for banning Groups:

My question is that if there are group forums being eliminated because they are exclusive, and SB is wanting to be deemed IN-clusive, why IS Tek2Tek exclusive?

If you don't want some of the more ...for lack of a better term... "uninformed" people commenting on things that are of a technical nature (a few that I can think of right off the bat, but won't disclose their names) why not open it as a "read only" function, and have to go through whatever process there is to gain full access?

I for one would possibly benefit from reading what people are doing in that realm. I spend some time on the Deco Stop, and have an ability to not sit and ask stupid questions, but continue to read and learn....I have a grand total of 14 posts over there!

Ben, the T2T forum is parallel to the I2I and B2B forums where people can talk to others about how to solve specific problems that come up in their day-to-day. They're more like workshops in a way. What makes them different from what we had with the groups is that in those three forums everybody who qualifies gains admission on application. There's a gatekeeper for the T2T/I2I/B2B forums yeah, but there are never any limits put on who is admitted (beyond qualifications, of course, so to get into I2I you have to be a dive pro and to get into B2B you have to run a business, and for T2T you have to be an advanced technical diver), and those qualifications are never based on personal affinities or friendships, and never put to a vote by current members. It's the admittance policies that have made Groups exclusive as opposed to T2T/B2B/I2I, not the fact that those three special forums are open to a specific subset of the larger membership. For people who are not qualified to access T2T, there are many open-to-participation technical diving forums on SB.
