I'm diving here on Sun, July 28 with the New England Dive Center, wondering if anyone else is planning to dive this site. I'm now in search of local dive buddies for RI & CT dives.

I just found out about it and wish I could go But I made Plans to go to Rockport Mass this weekend and will be diving with Cape Ann Charters. Im gonna stop into new England dive center and see if they have a schedule because this one was emailed to me yesterday and it was just too short of a notice. Id really like to support the store and help keep them around. post up your impression of the dive and how it went when you get a chance I would greatly appreciate it as well as others.

Be sure to bring your white tip cane its required for Helen Keller diving. :) Newport generally has better vis. I dove Kings Beach Newport last week and had 15' visibility. I haven't seen 15' vis at Wetherill in 3 years now. I'd offer to take you to some nice sites in Newport but I'm in dry dock until Oct., shoulder operation.

We may depending upon the forecast. If we do we plan on arriving early and diving early - by 8 AM. Dove FT W once each summer for the last 3-4 summers and had poor visibility each time, similar to Afterdarks experience. Still enjoyable. I have been diving FT W since the late 70s and we have had good visibility from time to time. Not sure if all this rain I heard about in Eastern CT will have any impact. I'll make a point of saying hello. Was in the dive shop today and you should have no problem finding a buddy if you need one

Hope to meet up with all of you, if not this weekend, at another time perhaps.

I am a beginner, have most of my own gear except for weights and tanks and I'm all about getting some practice. I've taken a buoyancy and control class so I'm really just looking for opportunities to apply what I've learned.

I'm expecting 5' visibility if I'm lucky, but am really just happy to get my fins wet. So if you don't mind diving with a newb and are in need of a buddy, keep me in mind.

That's the attitude of a successful New England diver! I've often said if I waited and only dove in ideal conditions I'd still be looking for my 100th dive 40 years later! Buoyancy control in low vis is harder, less visual clues, but once you master it here diving in clear warm water will be a breeze! If you see an old guy walking around FW with his left arm in a sling staring at the water looking like a junkie w/o a fix say hi. Good luck and safe diving

Thanks! Perhaps next summer when your wing is all healed we can plan a dive together.

So I was a little worried with rain and t-storms in the forecast but it was a beautiful day in Jamestown.

Dove for 41 mins, as deep as 41 feet. Saw crab, many fish, even a good sized flounder. Some jellyfish and some old lobster traps. There were two crabs chillin' in there and all I could think of was the Deadliest Catch.

10-15 ft of visibility and 68 degrees at the bottom. All very good for New England shore diving. This was dive #7 for me. I dove in the right side cove.

# 8&9 will be on Aug. 10 at Avery Point in Groton, CT.

Can anyone recommend a good resource or guide to identifying New England sea life? I'd like to be able to tell why kind of fish and crab I'm looking at.

Can't wait to get back in the water!
