Any camera you use is a great camera, imho!! I take my baby Panasonic TS3 snorkeling all the time - almost never take the BGC when I snorkel from shore. The TS3 is so easy & light & tiny and does a very respectable job, even diving at 12m:

That is a scorpionfish, but alas, not a leaf scorpion. Well spotted!!

And thanks again for the lovely compliments, you guys make a girl blush :)

No diving for me today but I am heading out whale sharking again, so cross fingers for a successful day. I'll be back later with hopefully a photo or two, though last shark trip I didn't shoot many at all - I'm getting slack :D

Just got back from a nice shore dive at Blairgowerie Yach Club in Port Phillip Bay.

Looks like the annual Spider Crab congregation is just beginning.
Saw groups about 5m diameter and 2-3 layers deep about halfway out just off to the left of the pier.
Sorry no photos - I don't have a camera.
But if you are interested here is a youtube vid of last years show.

Just back from an amazing day with the whale sharks. A freakin' ton of food in the water so conditions for shooting weren't great, but I'll probably keep a couple of shots from today just because I had so much fun. Excellent whale sharks - we swam with four different ones including a 6m female we stayed with for an hour and a circling, feeding small boy that we stayed with for about 45 minutes. The day, despite the floaties which ruined photos, was super - circling whale sharks are always fantastic. Even had time to hand off my camera to Jess, the 'tog at Three Islands Whaleshark Dive, teach her the very basics and have her shoot a few frames of me!

I can't say enough good things about Three Islands. From pick up to to drop off they were excellent. Friendly, fun, attentive, knowledgable, personable, interactive - each and every one of them. The food through the day was outstanding, the boat Draw Card is spacious & comfortable and the entire adventure runs slick. Two thumbs up - I highly recommend them.

Beautiful thanks for sharing alcina and getting a glimpse of you somehow I just KNEW you weren't a DOG! lol

Yes the little point and shoot cameras are affordable and easy to handle. I have been on a few dives where I was able to get shots that those expensive cameras and strobes couldn't because of size. I have had some success on occassion.. just putting the camera in the opening pressing long enough for the camera to focus then pressing the button. Some times I have done this to find out what just what is in there :)

We got a dive in today... I found a Bare Island Undescribed Anglerfish and another Eastern Blue Devil... Fish found a Rosey Weedfish... really good spotting! I am lucky that my hubby is patient and happy to hang about nearby while I play with the camera! I will post some pics in a bit.

Wow, cool weed fish!! And a froggie is always awesome :)

LOL maybe not a DOG but a big white whale :D :D

+1 for loving a little camera. It's why I try to carry mine even when I'm shooting my BGC - you just never know what you'll see hiding in a small hole. I had that happen the other day while snorkeling. My bud had her dlsr in an Ikelite housing and I had the baby Panasonic - I could shoot the Ward's wobbie deep under the ledge and she couldn't :)

Dived last sunday-the viz has been shockers here nearly the whole summer, lots of rain- Made a poor judgement/lazy choice using a 35mm lens but heres the few I liked -

This little guy was definitely cute- I call it a zinc cream toadfish-

But the viz was better in Thailand! and more affordable!

Still plenty of room for practice, but with some continual outings, I am starting to remember which button does what!

Love the shots... I love those puffers 1276:)

The Anglefish is lovely as well. Thanks for sharing:)

Went for a shore dive on the weekend to try out my new underwater camera. Unfortunately I didn't think to test it before I went in the water and turned it on about 3 meters deep and found it had a memory card error (later on, I took it out and put it back in and all is good) so that was disappointing.

But I did take my GoPro and saw a massive bullray and LOTS of crabs and a couple of nudis. You can see it in the video (put it in HD), the ray is hard to make out due to distance and the GoPro was point a bit above where I was looking.

Hi cayal,

Where are you diving from? I don't recognize the dive site you have mentioned.

Also your profile only lists your location as Australia. A rather big country.
