Are there any operators in the Keys who offer larger tanks?

Apparently the "be back in an hour" rule is an unspoken rule. We dove with an operator 2 weeks ago in the keys, they gave us 100's and put us on a dive site that was about 30' deep and told us to be back on the boat with 500 psi. We did a 90 minute dive and all had more than 500 left in our tanks. They were upset with us. If they had said "be back in an hour" we would have.

Wookie - I checked your calendar on your website when I first started making arrangements for this trip, I didn't see you running anything over Thanksgiving. I would have seriously considered diving the Tortugas with you guys for a week, but I don't think you are running anything in the winter are you?

Not until February.

I guess a big reason is that there always seems to be that one couple who ignores the "be back in one hour" order by the captain. Everyone else is sitting on the boat waiting for that one couple to get their a$$ back onboard. Imagine how late they'd be if they dove with 100's :shocked2:
I'd love to hear the crew's discussions when my wife and I show up and I'm toting my Steel 130's:dork2: It's just to keep up with her! Dang her tiny lungs! I always tell everyone "I'm her pony bottle" and we usually aren't the last one back on the boat.

Are there any operators that let you dive longer than an hour or is an hour the limit in the keys?

It's really just a timing issue for really any half-day charter in the Keys.

A boat leaves the dock at 8 am, arrives at the dive site a half-hour later to drop divers in the water for an hour-long dive, has an hour surface interval during the ride to the next site, drops the divers back in the water for another hour-long dive, and then make the half-hour boat ride back to the dock by noon for lunch. Head back out at 1 pm and (literally) rinse and repeat to be back at 5 pm.

Which dive op? I'd like to hear their side of it.

I really can't complain if everyone we dive with is providing the opportunity for a 60 minute dive, that's a nice long dive compared to the alternatives that I've unfortunately experienced from time to time over the years. But, I'd sure like to dive with operators like Aldora in Cozumel while in the keys if they exist and somebody could recommend them.

I've seen 100's and (I think) 120's on the boat at Seaduction® Scuba Diving Key West. I think they were nitrox tanks to boot. Never had cause to use them myself because I don't do deco diving and a double dip with 80's is more than enough to make my computer testy with me. As others have said, call ahead.

Hi Mike, I have LP108, HP 130, LP85, 95 and LP 120. All of which can be pumped up higher than you need :) Limited numbers, so they need to be booked in advance. I bank 30% and can also do pp fills to whatever

We dont care how long you dive for as long as you dont keep everyone waiting. If we dont need to get back to the dock for a PM trip, then no biggie.
