There are plenty of dive centers in Dalmatia. In July the water is quite warm in the shallows, but it's cold in the depth as usual.
Hvar has some nice dive spots, but most of divers praise the island of Vis and its wrecks. Brac and Korcula are popular islands amongst divers as well.

@ ElChe, your pictures are amazing, thanks for sharing
@ crayolabarb, you won't be disappointed,we absolutely loved the diving in Croatia, and considering where you and I are from, you won't be too disappointted in water temp, enjoy your trip and diving !!

I just got back from diving in Croatia today actually. All of my experience there is in the northern part of the country. Mostly Pula, Selce, and Kostrena area. My best dives there have always been the night dives.

What dive center did you dive with ,what was the size of the boat ,how mAny divers per boat, and how well were they equipped? Thanks for the feedback :)

There are two main types of dive boats in the Adriatic: larger, slower boats for daily trips, they use them mainly in the north or in the Kornati area where the dive sites are more far away; they use small, fast RIB's in Dalmatia usually where they have to ride only for 10-15 minutes. Basically the dive centers are regularly checked by the officials, so all of them equipped with emergency stuff, the tanks and compressors are regularly inspected, etc. There are many dive centers who offer services for tech divers.
What are you interested in? Or which area? I dived from the north to south many spots from the shore, big or small boat and I had a week long liveaboard trip as well.

I will be going to visit friends in Sveta Marina, Croatia, in late September/early October. What can I expect for water or air temps?

Air temps from 50's to 70's

water surface temp around 70f and depths from 50-60f

There are a few very nice dives from shore in Sveta Marina. We normally go once or twice a year.

I've dove with Diving Hippocampus at Pula, Mihuric Dive Center at Selce and Diving Center Kostrena. The boat dives off at Pula were off a RIB since they were pretty close to the shore (< 15 minutes) and the dives at Selce were off a boat rated for 36 divers, but they said they won't take more than 26 at a time. I think there were only 10 on the one trip out I did. Both the centers at Kostrena and Selce were equipped rather well with banked air / fills available almost immediately. I did not rent any equipment as I brought everything with me. I would recommend any of them again.

My friend told me about the shore dives. I can't wait.

Thanks for the info,
I would be really interested in some shore dives, from Split to Dubrovnic including the islands,I was hoping you might know of an internet site that talks about shores dives in detail in these areas, for example where are the best ones and how to find them by directions or by GPS co ordinates, enter points, what there is to see,and of course any safety issues regarding thses shore dives. Its a lot of info I know ,if there was an internet site or some reading material you could direct me to,it would be really appreciated :)

I'm not sure where Sveta Marina is but I was in Bol on the island Brac last year late september and the weather was in the high 70's,the weather was very nice for that time of year I was told.Their tourist season winds down at the end of September ,so you'll see some restaurants and stores closing up shop for the season .As for the water ,we dove at an average 100 ft and were wearing one piece wet suits 8-6-5,8mm at torso, with hoods and gloves and we were very comfortable at that depth. We checked the weather after we had left and it started to get quite cool, you'll love it ,people are as great as the scenery, looking forward to returning !!
