Thanks guys, got a Doc appointment for today. Will have a check over and hopefuly wont be anything serious so that I could continue with my lesson on Sunday. Will let everyone know the verdict.

I'm glad you're going to see a doc! About the worst that would happen is that you would need to delay your class for a few weeks.

Then the next time you get in the water, be very concious of what you're feeling in your ears, and make sure you equalize when you just start feeling a tiny bit of pressure. If you wait until "Wow! That hurts!" it's too late and you won't be able to equalize.

Good luck!

I actually think it's best to start pressurizing the middle ear before you note any external pressure. That way you're not correcting an excess of pressure but preventing it. Start when you're on the surface, and equalize on every breath as you descend.

Thanks guys, turns out I have a very minor infection that has just started, so got some ear drops said should clear up with in a couple of days :D. I see what you mean Flots and I think that's what started this business with my ear cos my left ear was fine and my right war was playing up but when I was equalising I obviously dint equalise enough because at one point I had to stop and come back up to a comfortable point as I felt the pain in my ear, it was on my second descent when I literally equalised nearly at every breath I took that I felt really comfortable doing it.

Still not put me of it though absolutely loved the feeling when I got to the bottom!! :D
