Is it not great when you have the hole ramp to your self no one else . I was not aware that there is another wing deeper . who did do go up to Jocassee with
The deep wing is a good way past the boat just beyond the second platform. If you are looking at the deep wing turn around and just before you head shallow look right (West) and leaning against a tree is the propeller. There is also a line that will take you to the wing through the trees if you are trained to do deco. It's a nice spooky trip. I love it.

It is great when there is noone else in the water; absolutely wonderful with no classes screwing up the dive site.

A message to instructors who bring students and overweight them and to incapable divers: If you cannot dive without kicking up all the silt then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

The deeper wing is normally at 130'. Simply follow the line from the back of the boat as it runs deeper towards the forest. You will end up at a post and there is a line that heads deeper into the forest down a hill. Follow that line and you should find the wing resting upright.

I tagged along with Cliff and a student who was working on his DM. I texted you and you did not respond.

Where are the lines that supposedly bring you through the forest at 70'?

Sorry Josh I did not get it . Are you sure you text the right number?. Glad you had a good dive

I agree. Working with BT in Greenville sometimes makes me want to laugh...other times to cry. One day when I'm an instructor, I hope I can change that over weighting mentality.

My ears are better and I've been cleared to dive. I will not be doing anything technical any time soon until I can get back in the water and get some dives back under my belt. I'll be DM for Bermuda Triangle some this summer, but really it is only until I can graduate from my Masters program to teach middle school science. Then hopefully I'll have the money to take GUE Fundies (rec) and then shoot for my SDI instructor cert.

Found a snorkel @ Lake Jocassee yesterday; clarity was bad from 10' to 104' (at the deep wing) a little better around 60'.
Temp: Surface 64.4
104' 89.5

Let me know if you lost your snorkel.

Dove today with Lake Jocassee Dive Shop....the vis at the Junk was great....at least 30 @ 45' and way over 40 @ 95'. Water temp was 66 at surface, 58 at 45', and 55 at 95'

What is a snOrkel doing at a dive site?

Also I assume you meant 49.5 instead of 89.5; otherwise I would rush to get there for some warm deep diving.

I talked to Brandon yesterday when I was at Diver supply In Marrietta Ga. (he is the store manager there know)
He let me know that the next lake clean up date is allready set for September. And there is going to be some really cool changes to the Divers ramp sight. They are going to remove all the old lines and put new lines with signs and there will be a nav, course set up and other areas set up for different class use. All this will be done by all the volunteer divers durring the clean up. I had asked about the bathroom / porta-pots he told me that Duke has some plans to set the cove to the right of the ramp or the penninsula area for snokaling and restrict the area to all boat traffic and the posibly add some restrooms. this all wil happen in stages . I guess we will just have to ait and see

Dove off the ramps today. Surface temp was 61, bottom temp was 51 at 115'. Vis was 15' in the forest. The water is way down, the shallow platform is only at 7'.

Anyone who hasn't been since the new ramps were installed be very careful, where the new concrete ends it simply drops off about 18".
