I'm currently in Michigan but may end up elsewhere. Is your work primarily near Atlanta? That seems odd to me.

Whats seems odd about it? Because of the tax breaks the state of Georgia, a lot of tv and movies are getting produced here in Atlanta. We are however in prelim talks on three other movies and some will not be in Atlanta. Right now, we are only looking for dive close to Atlanta. We'' keep you info on file.

thanks for responding.

Jerry

"Whats seems odd about it? Because of the tax breaks the state of Georgia, a lot of tv and movies are getting produced here in Atlanta. " It is not that movies are being made in Atlanta, it is that movies that require assistance of professional and rescue divers are being made in Atlanta. We can only do so much in the Hooch, Lanier, or Alatoona. Thought they would be more by natural place to film in and around water.

the last place we shot was a training pool in middle georgia where they train fire and police rescue to get kids out of sunken school buses. HUGE pool. Anytime actors/crew are near or in water, even knee deep, some production companies request safety divers. we don wetsuits and are resposible for any "in water" situations. artist these days can make anyplace look completely natural.

We do video production - both above and below water - do you know of companies that are looking for video teams to film? Chris

If you want me to look for something in the great lakes, Ohio or Michigan let me know. I'm sure I can muster lots of help, and from divers who have an impressive CV.

This sounds like fun - you get to dive and supervise others, just like a DM. The only difference is that, unlike a DM, you get paid too! :)

Too bad there are no such sweet gigs where I live.

tardmaster: Not to cool your ardor, but:

  1. It is rather unlikely that any of the folks you "hire" would, in fact, qualify as "contractors," they would most likely be considered employees by any of the authorities out there.
  2. They would be commercial divers and as such subject to the OSHA Commercial Diving rules and regulations.
  3. The production companies, if legitimate, would be most unhappy to find out that you were operating outside of the law and without the proper credentials and insurances.
