For those of you familar with Villa Aldora is it walking distance to town? We've stayed at Blue Angel and don't consider it walking distance even tho we walked several times. We are considering a room with no kitchen so would be eating out all meals.

Others have spent a lot of energy posting about the safety of walking in Cozumel, it may be the safest place on earth. But the walk to downtown from the Villa Aldora is 3/4 mile on nice wide sidewalks. Many of our guests walk in for dinner and taxi back or we provide free bicycles which may be more fun. Given that all rooms have at least kitchenettes most of our guests get breakfast supplies on check in with our on site managers, and have that in their room. Then the surface interval is long and at a reasonably priced day beach resort for lunch, a place that never makes our divers sick!. That just leaves dinner and there is such a great variety of good places in town.

I hope others with experience there will add to the conversation.

I walked to the ferry in 20-25 minutes...forget the exact time. I get breakfast at Rock n Java but their 700 AM opening time means that it is usually a "to go" breakfast. Ask Memo if he has ever seen me eating breakfast sitting on the pier.

Yes!!!
The safe, leisurely, 20 minute walk along the water/beautiful shore line is one that includes the property of the President of Mexico. ( Mexican Camp David). They have just redone the sidewalks recently, from the Villa, to the town square. The walk before was very nice and is now a superb walking path with a fantastic view looking towards the sunset on your way to town. You would be have a hard time finding a better spot to walk in all of the Caribbean.
We have both walked back after dinner and taken a cab back. Depends on who/how many we are dinning with and the mood of the evening.
Even the small rooms at the Villa have a micro wave for warming a snack/leftovers. Some rooms and suites have full kitchen. They also have a service that will deliver lunch ( menu is in the common breezeway). All you have to do is ask for any special requests (within reason)at the Villa.
I'm sure you've already checked out the (recently updated) site.

We walked into town every afternoon. It was a very pleasant walk.

If I understand the OP's question, it is not about safety, rather distance. That is a subjective determination (the actual distance isn't subjective, rather the impact of walking that far is subjective). I stay at blue angel every January and walk to town more times than we take a taxi. If you like adding the extra time before and after dinner to account for the walk then I think it is certainly walking distance

Blue Angel to town is 1.9 miles

Villa Aldora to town is 1.2 miles

So you're 1/3rd closer, 1/3rd the walking time and distance

Yep, thats what I wanted to know. Now all I have to do is get our room booked an then the flight. Thanks

Should of just asked how many miles from each to the ferry. I feel Cozumel is the safest place Mexico and recently had small school superintendant ask me about a senior trip and how safe it is. I told him his only worry would be the alcahol available at the all inclusive they're staying at.

The Villa is on the north side of town, as is the ferry pier.

walk into town not bad at all and there are some pretty good restaurants north of downtown if you are not up for the full walk. i think there is also a list of places who deliver to the villas.
