No, thats mostly my own informal estimation based on reading about this issue before, and based on my own estimation of when post-dive stress has subsided and any DCS symptoms will have shown up or not by then.
OK.

It sounds like you've spent some time thinking/reading about this issue. I'm just curious. What do you think is responsible for the cases of delayed-onset DCS? For the sake of this discussion, let's say that "delayed-onset" refers to DCS symptoms that occur after your 4-hour post-dive window.

I've actually wondered about this for some time. Venous gas emboli can be measured for at least a couple of hours after surfacing from a dive. If that's when detectable bubbles really disappear, then what could be responsible for the delay in onset of DCS symptoms? The diver's immune system, nervous system, and/or a vascular component might be involved. Obviously, there's a piece of the disease process puzzle that we haven't elucidated yet. I wonder if that warrants more conservatism when considering post-dive exercise.

Before reading this thread I never gave exercising after diving a second thought. I'm a runner so after a good day of diving if I had time I would go for a good run. I have never encountered any issues. The only thing I've noticed is that I feel slightly more winded on post dive runs than I do on runs when I don't dive.

Yeah. I'm thinking of hiring a driver and installing a treadmill
in the back of the truck for the drive back home wind down

Thing is I have to figure out how to gauge what speed I'm
running

LoL! What a novel idea. :-)

What about hiking a hundred yards uphill in my gear? Lots of the time I felt kind of twisted, like standing on a rocking boat, but I chalked it up to drinking beer the night before, there were times that I had felt that sensation when I hadn't dranken beer for a couple of weeks though.
any reply is welcomed
