I'm assuming that number included multiple certifications. OW, AOW, Rescue, DM, Instructor + any specialty certs.
 
Yeah, I'd assume that also. I don't think it is an 'entry-level' diver count. Still...that figure would still be high...as many (most) certified divers don't go beyond OW.
 
Does anybody have numbers from other agencies to compare against? It would be interesting knowing just how much of a giant PADI is. I know some have been around for fewer years, different philosophies etc. but the comparison would still be interesting.
 
Anyone want to run a sweep on the location for the cert:

Safe Bet: Cairns

Ever faithful, but found hard going recently: Sharm El Sheikh

Any other likely candidates?
