Hi everyone. I've been asking a lot of questions regarding scuba equipment. I really appreciate the feedback and insights. I was wondering, however, if you had unlimited financial resources and could afford any piece of equipment or go on the dive trip of your dreams, what would you buy and where would you go? :D

My next two purchases to complete my dive gear is a regulator and dive computer. Technically I already have a dive computer but was looking at ugrading to a wireless AI unit. I also started scuba diving when my wife signed us up for the introduction to scuba course when we were staying at Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef. So, if money was no object my wish list would be.

1. Atomic T2x regulator.
2. Oceanin OC1 titanium air/nitrox wireless dive computer/watch.
3. dive trip back to Australia's Great Barrier Reef which would include dives at Cod hole and diving with the Minke whales. Would also include hiking trip Kakadu National forest which is near the GBR.

What's your wish list?

Fun and safe diving to all.

I already have the T2
Uemis SDA looks interesting. I just saw an Atomic Cobalt also, if they ever do a wristmount...
Wakatobi has been on my list for years.

hmmm, Rebreather, not sure which one yet.
Crystal Caves of Abaco

FWIW... I have the OC1. If you grow far enough in diving, you'll outgrow the computer quickly as you will with the Cobalt. Take a look at the Shearwater Predator. It's cheaper than both the computers above and will do oodles more. It's also way simpler to use and has user serviceable batteries.

If money was no object, I'd start with a rebreather and the best training on it I could find. Then I'd go on "walkabout" ... after all, if money's no object, I don't have to work for a living, right?

I'd start with some wreck diving off San Diego ... then head down to Mexico for some cave diving ... from there I'd be off to the Galapagos ... then all the way south to Antarctica ... up the other side to Australia ... on to Papua New Guinea ... several weeks in Indonesia (lots of different islands I'd like to visit) ... a liveaboard exploring some of the extreme north or south (depending on time of year) atolls in the Maldives ... across to the Red Sea ... wreck diving in Scapa Flow ... up to Iceland to dive between the tectonic plates ... down to the Great Lakes for some more wreck diving ... and end it all with a leisurely cruise down the Alaska and BC coastline, stopping to explore any walls or pinnacles we came across that might look interesting. I figure that'd take me at least a year or two, and probably cost at least a million dollars ... but, if cost is no object, that'd be my round-the-world dream vacation ...

I wouldn't have to change my name to Obama would I? He acts like money is no object.

I'd love to dive around the Aleutians off Alaska.

...ah,tony......my wife leaves for there next week......natl. geo. seabird expedition w/ linblad for 2 weeks

...and i have to stay home and work....and dive with you!!!!!!!!
and that folks, is why god made beer!!!!!!!!

I look forward to it! I am finally starting to get caught up.

If money were no object, one of the things that I would do would be to buy a center console boat. I'd set it us to stow all of the required dive gear and maximize my local diving options.

Another thing that I'd do would be to book a couple of live-aboard trips. Probably Galapagos, Bikini Atoll, or another trip to Chuuk.

I would hook up with a few instructors on this board for some training/travel. Thalassamania, Doppler, NW grateful diver, and Jim Lapenta come to mind right away. I would also like to take a Fundamentals class, because I know it would be a lot of fun.

I would take two trips, one to Seattle area and another to SoCal, I'd try and get in touch with some of the people on this board and attempt to schedule some dives with them. ;-)

I'd divide any money up into 1.) Boat/equipment/more diving
2.) Travel/experience
3.) Training/travel/experience

I'd probably put together a couple more set of doubles, and buy more deco bottles. Other than that, I'd do more training and travel.

A good scooter......like a Halcyon, Gavin or X.
Actually 3 or 4 of then since it's less fun being the only one with a scooter.
A Switch 51, Gunboat or Outremer and the whole world to explore.

I'd learn to use a rebreather, buy the best equipment available and move to the south Pacific or Caribbean permanently. (here's where the good part is) Then I'd tell the rest of the world to go suck an egg. :D (I feel better already)
