Hey Don, how about Tucson to Cancun? What's your best deal there?
Or PHX, I could leave from there too if it's cheaper...

Could you drive to Austin Texas...? :D

It's funny how flying from Austin thru Phoenix can be cheaper than originating in Phoenix. Just depends on who is competing with whom. I looked at Sidestep.com/Kayak.com (same site, different appearance) as it is pretty good at checking all possibilities without jerking the shopper around, then usually allowing you to book at the airline site that will jerk you around if you shop there first.

I really don't see any point in the itineraries that make you change planes twice on the way so let's skip those starting at $498. I also avoid overnight connections that involve long hours in an airport, altho flying overnight is ok.
US Airways: Tuscon to Cancun for $531 RT - 1 change in Phoenix. 7am departure into CUN at 3 with time change; 4pm return into TUS before 9 - probly your best option.

Air Trans: Phoenix to Cancun for $597 RT - 1 change, overnight flying but not bad. Leave on the 11th

Frontier: Phoenix to Cancun for $621 RT - 1 change

US Air: Phoenix to Cancun for $687 RT - Non-stop :cool2:

American Air really tries to get passengers to overnight in DFW - which is not much fun and ruins fare savings.
Tuscon to Cozumel is not easy, but these flight beat driving thru Mexico anyway. :eyebrow: It's worth it even thru Cancun. Take a look at Sidestep and see if I missed anything...?

I've done 20 hour trips from my house to Coz hotel after an afternoon at a Dentist on the way, saving enough on the Dentist to pay for the trip, and still made the 8am boat, but you don't need to do that.

Hi Dandy,

You could charge for this as an agent, nice you assist the less web savvy members on SB.

Appreciatively, Craig

I'm always glad to offer my opinions, whether their worth anything or not. Remember when travel agents got commissions on plane tickets back in the 1980s, maybe early 90s?

For those who like to talk to help agents by phone, Continental and others have .com help desks that do not charge booking fees. In the $1300 example above it would have been good to call Continental reservations as they are good at finding fares on their airline at least and you don't pay a fee unless they find something you want to buy. Probly the best phone call is to Orbitz tho, as they are helpful with no fees - unless you want to fly American who is boycotting Orbitz.

Really, Sidestep is easy to learn. ;)

How about Denver to Cozumel? :)
Well, looks like American has good service DEN-CZM for $564. Go 7am-1:30pm, return 1:40pm-7:30pm - 1 change each way

Since you're in C.Springs tho, you might want to do the bag drag from Cancun [-]for $486 with Continental: COS 6:20a-CUN 2:05p, return CUN 1:35p-DEN 4:48p - 1 change each way. Not enough money saved to go thru Cancun except it saves you the drive to Denver.[/-] Not available on Continental.com! I noticed that Kayak.com found the fare but did not offer a link to Continental. Orbitz or Expedia will book it, on Continental, and you'd have a Continental record just as if they sold it to you - but they won't. Amazing how they try to jerk people around. If you did that, you'd want to put your email on the record, double check your seat selection, etc.

Edit: I went back to get some screen shots of that, but it's changing too quickly. Take a look on Kayak.com and make sure you return to the same airport you leave you car at.

Hope that helps you get going...

Bit the bullet and got the tickets. Saw the price drop tonight when I checked and grabbed those babies up. It's been up for a week, and dropped to last weeks prices. By the time I finished, just for fun, I cleared cookies and looked again. Fare gone up again. sheesh..I'm thinking there was about a 6 hr window... And even better, we are meeting sis in Houston and flying in together.. fun.

I don't think clearing cookies helps anymore with the programs airline run now. They know you by your browser, extensions, etc. Glad you found flights you like.
