That air fare from Phoenix is cheaper then from Houston. With no overnight stay in Houston take the 6:00am flight and be there for a afternoon dive. Book it Dano!

KY why would you fly from NZ just to go to Coz? NZ to Fiji would be the flight for me. Hows the diving been out at the Poor Knights?

I wonder if the airlines take El Norte into account for their fares..:dontknow:
In a way maybe. They have their records and those of competitors so they go with expected passenger loads. Late February is after Xmas holidays, after MLK, after Carnival, after New England third week of February break, and before rest of US spring break - over all a reduced demand maybe. My guess anyway.

It seems odd that Norte season is high season. I guess more snowbelt divers are more eager to escape the cold than concerned about blowouts? I'm more likely to go in the summer to cool off.

That happens at times. Maybe they're competing with some other airline on the route? Much higher from Lubbock, altho sometimes it's just the opposite - or used to happen here. I think they were trying to build the Lubbock market but finally gave up on growth.

Yeah, I'd avoid the overnight Houston. But from my house, when I catch a 5am flight, I feel like I've overnighted on the trip to the airport.

I checked on some dates later in March and they are the same, less than half the price I paid in August and November.

I have to do an overnight in Houston. I live 120 miles outside Phoenix and even if I wanted to get there early there isn't a flight leaving Phoenix early enough to make the Houston to Cozumel connection even if I wanted to.

I have tons of hotel points I use for my stays so it doesn't cost me for the room (use em or loose em by expiration). That gives me a very easy mid morning flight from Phoenix getting to the hotel in late afternoon for a nice dinner, and then a very easy (no rush) ride to the airport for the flight from Houston to Cozumel the next morning.

The trip home only requires a 3 hour layover in Houston to get back to Phoenix in the early evening, so a one way layover.

It would seem like March (early or late) would be more of a problem than Aug or Nov because of Spring Break with all the kids heading to Cancun or Playa Del Carman.

Can't figure it out the difference in cost but I'm not going to complain.

.. or like Kevin, are still working, but have VASTLY more vacation time (and $) to not worry about the odds of getting blown out now and then........ :)
No not really, just 52 worked alot, dont have a summer life here cuz i work too much, dont drink, smoke or havent bought anything new except scuba gear in the last few years. I just really save money and dont waste. That gets me to the island about 6 times a year. I still manage to put money away for retirement. I must admit my wife is the reason I save so well, she taught me how. I hope you can do that to. just keepn' it real.:D

Checked it out.. That works for any date leaving in February but when I plug anything in starting with March 1st there is no more 6:05 am from Phoenix all the way through March and beyond. They must change their schedules as of March 1st. I was trying to get further out in March for the warmer weather.

Where are you checking? Airline sites have devious programs that track your shopping even without IPs and jerk you around. You said late February above; when would you actually like to go? The cheapest fares are available only on some dates, so which is most important - your dates, or your price and if the latter, what is your range?

Hmmm.. I go right to the Continental web site. I tried all combinations of days and dates to find that 6:05 flight, including just searching for flights from Phoenix to Houston and it won't come up. I'm going to give them a call Monday morning to see what is going on.

Dive with Aldora and you'll get wet everyday, regardless... cenotes or windward side always plan B for those days
