Now I'll reciprocate and give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't really think the ad implied that SB would invade Cozumel with tanks and rockets.

No rockets, but tanks will be provided free of charge! :D (NitrOx is extra)

Good one! You are just a master of word-play!

Since you removed the old pictures how about replacing them with a picture of a swarm of killer bees??? :D

You baited the hook, and Pete set it.
Classic comedy technique with the "straight man" (or in this case gal) and the "funny man."

Well of course I had seen it. But it didn't take a lot of intellectual effort to realize that the word "invade" when it came to Cozumel was meant in a different sense from the same word in relation to the military images. It was a clear and obvious play on words as anyone who gave it a bit of thought would have understood. Now I'll reciprocate and give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't really think the ad implied that SB would invade Cozumel with tanks and rockets.

couv, it's understandable with your background that you think of the word invade in its military meaning.

OK...so you saw that add...but really thought that the OP just thought of invade in a military meaning because of his background...not because there were images of military operations? Really?? Wow...

I'm sure that you'll agree, once you've thought about it, that because the word invade is not used in the SB Cozumel trip ad in a military sense, there is nothing offensive about it as regards current or former service men and women.

Have you served in the military? If you haven't, I don't think you're in any place to tell someone who has served what is and isn't offensive.

Naked woman, and suggestive poses would certainly do that too! But taste prevents their use here. DAM! :idk: :D

Nice thought, but this is like human nature is.
Naked human bodies can be offensive, but war images not.
Making love is offensive, killing people is patriotic.
XX rated movies are after midnight, News shows with assaults, murders, robs, etc are at central time.

I didnt find the ad to be in poor taste at all, but then I tend to see these things less literally than some and take a minute to consider the context of ads and the source.

To me, an ad can be very insulting or totally benign depending on the intent of its creator. Just like being called a certain word can insult me or make me laugh depending on what I perceive to the intent of the person saying it. If one of my friends calls me XX while we are bantering back and forth it is totally different than if someone I know hates my calls me the same thing. In this case it is clear that there was no ill will towards anyone or any group and so I dont see any problem with the ad.

Just my two cents.

This is classic argument from authority fallacy.

I find the whole "I served thus I have the right to be insulted" argument intellectually insulting.

Perhaps I should request Pete to remove posts that don't grasp the sarcasm of the add on the basis that are intellectually insulting.
