Tahsis BC - Gateway to Nootka Sound
Article by John Rawlings

The first aspect of the site that immediately draws your attention as you descend down through the jumble of rocks on a gradual slope is that virtually everything is completely covered with a literal blanket of brilliant red and pink Strawberry anemones, making Mozino Point one of the most amazingly colorful dives to be found anywhere.

Tahsis is one of my favorite destinations in British Columbia, and this trip proved to be one of the most exciting! When we weren't shooting pics of Gorgonian Corals and Cloud Sponges underwater we were getting shots of Humpback whales, Sea Otters and bears.

I really envy those of you that live on Vancouver Island and are closer to Nootka Sound than I am! Such a beautiful area!

Has anyone else had some fun experiences there?

Tahsis is a gem . It is only a three hour drive away , I don't get there often enough.
Planning a few dives there in early November .
thanks for the review

You are a lucky diver, wished I lived closer!
I'll be back to Vancouver island next year!!!!!

Vancouver Island is a divers delight . It is almost like having four different oceans at our fingertips . I love this rock .

What city do you live by?

I live on the Malahat just north of Victoria . I am actually a 5 hour drive to Tahsis , 3 hours to Campbell River which is the centre of the diving universe .

Feel free to join us on our next Vancouver island dive adventure. Should be sometime in April 2011

We're looking at spending most of our time on our next trip to Tahsis looking for virgin walls and seamounts. Part of the time we'll strike out and find nothing exciting....but imagine what it'll be like to find a new site that's breathtaking!!!

I can't wait!

I'm heading back to Tahsis in two weeks ... :D
