I currently dive double 130s but find them rather negative and bulky. I have a hard time trimming out in 85s but want to see what most people dive.

lots of folks in cave country use 95's - just try to get fabers since the pst's are heavier.

130's are big doubles. I just carried a set out to a guy's car at the LDS after we filled them. I'm 6'-0" and 203#. I think I would really struggle getting up the ladder in a pitching sea with tanks your size. My 85's seemed like a dream after moving this guy's tanks. Safe diving to you.

Which 85s do you have? There is night and day difference how Faber 85s and Worthington 85s trim on same person. I like(d) my Worthington 85s for doubles, and Faber HP100s were OK. Faber 95s were about the largest I was able to carry but they go very butt-light already around ~1700/1600 PSI.
The brand does matter a lot, unless you are one of those people who can trim with fridge by just deciding so.

I have Farber. I also dive with double AL 80's and AL 63's. Yeah, I can adjust for what tanks are being used as backgass. I also sling an Al 30 on my right. So in a 4/3, I dive with no weight with the 85's, and 3# (offset - 2# on the left and 1# on the right) in the AL tanks. I may take the 1# off when I use the 63's.

In a drysuit, I'll use 16# with the steel 85's (offset by 2#) and I add ankle weights with the AL's.

Safe diving to you.

The doubles I use most of the time, which I love, are Worthington LP85s. They're enough gas for a T1 dive and a subsequent shallower dive, and I can pack them around and they trim out beautifully.

I also have a set of HP100s, which trim out almost the same, but are a bit heavier. HP100s are very popular around here.

130's with a drysuit, 72's in a wetsuit for recreational dives. It's kind of one extreme or another. I would like a set in between my current 2 sets (LP85's or HP100's).

I dive 130's 99% of the time.

When the dive only needs LP85's, I LOVE them!

100s almost exclusively, but will start using 130s for bigger dives.
