It's pretty common for newer divers to cast about for solutions to high gas consumption. Doubles are not the answer to that. There are a bunch of threads on how to be better on gas, with a lot of good tips on buoyancy and efficiency of swimming. Those are much better strategies! Double tanks introduce a lot of additional potential failure points, and you have to have the training to be able to manage those potential failures before doubles actually offer a significant advantage.
