I didn't do anything special. I tend to try to make sure I'm diving at a favorite spot on my birthday but the number count thing hasn't been a big deal for me.

Whatever is special for you however is the thing to do for any memorable mile stones.

I was in a drysuit with lots of thermals for my 100th dive, too cold for a nude one...

For each 100th I have a picture taken underwater (as does my buddy) :) Though my 200th was solo so I had to get someone to take one on the boat after the dive!

100
200
300
400

Anyway, I like this tradition as it is interesting to see how my gear and type of diving has changed over time :)

But you're still sporting thart Northern Divers hood.
Nice to know quality.

I celebrated #100 by inviting all the instructors I had worked with, as well as a number of dive buddies, to dive with me and then go out to dinner. A couple of instructors actually came! It was a miserable, cold, drizzling night, and anybody with any sense would just have gone to dinner.

I made a chocolate cake to bring to the restaurant, which said "1400" as I recall, because that night was my 100th and NW Grateful Diver's 1300th (and he dove with me).

It’s quite common in the tropics for DM trainees, etc. to do dive 100 birthday suits. :shocked2: But my scuba addiction couldn’t wait for vacation & then there are the uh logistics…

So dive 100 ended up being a very awkward drysuit training dive, struggling with buoyancy in shallow 5 ft vis 53F water while desperately following the fuzzy fins of my instructor, like a little puppy.

But what the dive lacked in glory, it made up for by promising the potential of weekly local diving :D. Almost 300 dives later I'm in our local cold water 2-3 days a week ;-) and wondering the best way to celebrate dive 500 when/if it happens ;-).

Probably a beautiful dive site with good friends. One thing is for certain. It won’t be in the nude in this water ;-D!

Happy dive 100!

I've yet to reach the 100th dive mile stone. But I have reached the 50th birthday mile stone and can pretty much guarantee there will be no nude diving to celebrate.I'm still in great shape and have no issues with embarrassment. But I tend to agree with the earlier post that no one wants to see a 50 year old "primary" dangle on the dock or deck.My 100th dive will most probably be in a local quarry where the pan fish population has a tendency to nibble on ear lobes, hairs etc....I have no desire to provide them with any celebratory opportunity.:D

My hubby thinks it's silly to even be concerned with it....but every 100 dives, I make sure that I'm doing something fun with the people I enjoy diving with.

My 200th dive was just a few weeks ago, and I couldn't bear the idea of it being a "working" dive doing a Reef Check survey, so I convinced my hubby to go out with me on a mid-week night dive. The dive was relaxing, fun, simple, and with one of my favorite buddies....I hope to celebrate other "milestones" in a similar fashion (never ever will I do it in my b-day suit....that just sounds awful!).

Haha I actually just bought a replacement about three days ago :) The Northern Diver hood is still ok and I'll use it in summer, but a buddy was offloading a nice new Otter hood really cheap so I got that one and found it warmer (as probably it has not been crushed after 400 dives like my current one!)

Yea I have a few friends who think it is silly to celebrate 100th dives but I dunno, I think it is a nice thing to do, especially when you can look back and see your progress.

That being said I have never celebrated any anniversary with my partner, just diving ones :rofl3:

I like what Walter's group does. That would be a cool memento to hang onto.

I don't plan on any nude dives. If I was young, buff, and tan, others might not mind too much, but I really don't want to subject any other divers to my pasty-white, 50+ year old body.
