I just finished with my promotional exams at work and eneded up #1 on the list and should be promoted next week. I am planning on hitting some springs here soon. I have my canoe as well as a kayak. I was kinda thinking of an early Cypress run and then heading over to Morrison and/or Vortex.

Congratulations on your promotion. I bet the dive places you just named will now be even more crowded because of the oil spill. I wander if the gulf will ever be the same? My Dry Tortuga trip next month will probably get canceled due to oil being just 100 miles away from the Tortugas.

Dove the Red Sea and Bridge Span 12 off PCB on the 12th. There was no sign of oil there then. Panama City Dive Center has committed their boats to oil work. Dive Locker is still running charters. I don't know about Diver's Den or any of the other charters out of PC.

Diver's Den is still booking charters for now!!!

Congratulations, Walter!!

Glad to see you back on the boards! You've been laying low lately.

Morrison was packed today. Yes, on a Wednesday!! We got lucky and just curbed it to unload and a couple of cars left so we didn't have to park outside the gate.

Thanks, I will getting up with you pretty soon for an intro cave class. I need to get back in the water for a bit and get back into the groove before I take the class. I had to take a couple of months off from diving to study. It feels like it has been so long since I have been in the water that I will have to re-teach myself how to set-up my sidemount gear. :D

We were at JB last weekend and it had to be at least 1,000 people there.
Edd said the weekend before it had been 1,000. I guess people are hitting the springs instead of the beaches. I am still getting to do my cave diving but I really wanted to do some gulf diving this summer. I even set up a rig with a steel b/p and wing so I wouldn't have to wear any weights. I really hope things will start to improve soon.

Very doubtful. Morrison was packed Wednesday. I almost had to park in the far parking lot, but got lucky while I was getting gear ready parked at the curb and a couple of people left, opening up a spot.

The oil hit the Kiddie Pool at St. Andrews yesterday. They closed the beach immediately and had about 80 workers out there trying to clean it up. I don't know if it's reopened or not, but it's not looking good. I think BP is out of ideas. The next thing is the relief well that they will have drilled by the end of the year. I'm beginning to wonder whether that will even work. I think we will feel the effects of this leak beyond our life times.

The beach at St. Andrews was never actually closed. They just setup some washing stations while the BP workers collected the tar balls. Since last weekend PCB has been steadily getting tar balls, but not in huge quantities. Thus far all the beaches are open and St. Andrews is still open for diving.

The media apparently overreacted then and misreported this. Just the same, if it's anywhere near what the reports say it is, I won't be getting in that water.
